Mickledore Travel were the only operator to offer a bespoke holiday. We wanted to take part of their tour offer, and split it differently into shorter days, and this they did well, with good attention to detail.

They gave us personal treatment, and took into account our needs - not being so young and agile as their usual clientele. They supplied us with everything we needed, and everything worked like clockwork. Even when I asked a question that I later found in their notes, they replied promptly and without comment to our lack of attention.

Professional, responsive and a very well-organised self-guided tour. This was particularly important as I was traveling from abroad and traveling alone. Realistically, I could never have made the arrangements as seamless as Mickledore did.

My husband and I celebrated a 33rd wedding anniversary using Mickledore Travel to make all arrangements for our 84 mile hike of Hadrian's Wall. We ended up walking 108 miles in total. The accommodations were first rate and the food was excellent - including accommodating my vegan and allergy dietary restrictions. We were given phone assistance when we didn't have all the details on hand for our taxi and lots of helpful advice.

Mickledore Travel were superb - end to end. They courteously and fully responded to all queries in a prompt fashion and facilitated all arrangements to ensure our walk went without hitches.

From Tynemouth to Bowness, 7 days of brilliant walking and sightseeing. The geography and scenery of Northumbria and Cumbria is very special in its own right, but add the brilliant Hadrian's Wall into the mix too, and this turns into a truly amazing part of England

Mickledore arranged our accommodations, luggage and people transfers as required. Their selection of BNB's was excellent and greatly enhanced our experience. The Mickledore staff was very responsive during the planning process and during our vacation.

Mickledore were excellent from the start - answered all questions promptly and were fantastic throughout. They supplied great maps, guides and documents. They have some great partnerships with local accommodation and transport providers - everything that they organised for us went without a hitch.

It was a family trip that combined: quality time together, a sense of adventure, history, culture, isolation from the city, and spectacular scenery. It was such a wonderful experience to have a daily challenge of our walk and to get to our accommodation for good food and lots of good discussion about our day. It was so well organised that we had no stress and could just enjoy the journey.

Friendly staff, everything was organised and it all went perfectly. The information provided was very in depth and every place we stayed was fantastic.

We had a wonderful holiday walking the Hadrian's Wall Path and staying in pre-arranged B&Bs along the way, The complete walk goes from Tynemouth to Solway on Bowness, and although there is not evidence of the wall all along this path, it's still a lovely, fairly undemanding walk. The most demanding days are between Chollerford and Gilsland, with lots of ups and downs, but for the most part you are next to the wall with amazing views and spectacular scenery.

We have walked the Hadrian's Wall Path with Mickledore twice - once in each direction. They take all the hard work out of planning and booking accommodation, transporting our luggage from place to place, and organising breakfasts and packed lunches. All we had to do was organise an evening meal and enjoy our walk ... and it all works like a dream! We are already looking at next year's walk to somewhere different; the only difficulty is choosing where, since the choice of destinations is huge!

After a stay-over in Tynemouth my wife and I walked from the Segedunum Roman Fort at Wallsend to Bowness-on-Solway over the course of eight days. We very much enjoyed our 'self-guided tour,' being able to walk at our own pace and being able to stop to see the ruins and museums of the Corbridge Roman Town, Chester's Roman Fort, the town of Vindolana, and the Roman Army Museum as well as the many milecastles and turrets to name a few. The farther one walks along this path the more one is impressed by the scale and magnitude of the wall. It is simply amazing. Each day offers unique scenery and views: rivers, long views of the undulating hills of Northumberland, Sycamore Gap, the view to the north from the upper edge of steep hills (almost cliffs) along with the many sheep, goats and herds of cows.

Mickledore was very responsive to our initial inquiry which set them apart from other agencies. Even though the request was inside of the eight week window, Mickledore was able to set up an itinerary where the distances between B&B accommodations allowed us to pause to see the sites and vistas or have a cup of tea in the afternoon. The B&B Operators also took our Vegan Diet into consideration for both breakfasts and lunches. Since Mickledore did all of the planning, we were allowed to just relax and enjoy ourselves.
