Unsung Ecuador and glorious Galapagos

Lots of people go to the Galapagos, but not enough of them take the opportunity to include time exploring the Ecuadorean mainland. The Veloso 'Primavera' Tour offers 11 nights in Ecuador followed by a seven day exploration of the Galapagos and takes in many of the main sights of that fascinating country including four nights in the remarkable Napo Wildlife Centre deep in the rainforest of the Amazon Basin, together with time in the capital Quito, exploring the 'Avenue of the Volcanoes' and a couple of nights in the splendid colonial city of Cuenca before flying from Guayaquil to join our small (max 20 passenger) boat to explore the Galapagos in the company of a couple of enthusiastic and knowledgeable National Park guides. Ecuador was welcoming, friendly and safe and the Galapagos were everything we had expected.
Rating for tour operator:Veloso are a small and friendly operator based in West London who we have travelled with before to South America. Their staff are knowledgeable and helpful and if you ring their office there is every chance that your call will be answered by Paulo Veloso! In our experience they select excellent local guides and agents.

We arrived in Buenos Aires and spent two days exploring the city with the help of a very well informed young lady. From there we went to the Iguazu falls we spent one day exploring the Falls from both the Brazilian and Argentinian sides they were awesome but really too much to do in one day we all came back shattered partly due to the heat and humidity, The next day we went to Neuquen for one night. We took a coach to Bariloche (the coach was 2hours late arriving and then the brakes overheated and we had to transfer to another coach) not highly recommended!! Bariloche was a remarkably beautiful place mountains and lakes and a lovely town for browsing round and enjoying drinks at the numerous cafes, From there we flew to Calafafe where we went to the glaciers and had a memorable boat trip. then on by air to the end of the world ie Ushuaia 2 interewsting trips here and then a flight back to Buenos Aires for our return trip to London. I must congratulate the airlines as all 6 of our flights were on time,
Rating for tour operator:We had many different tour guides all very informative but the lady in Bariloche was exceptional.
I am delighted that you enjoyed your time in Argentina, a wonderfully diverse country. I am sorry that you had problems with your coach journey - it can be unreliable and so it is not our usual recommendation.
I am very pleased that you got on so well with our guides, as we put a lot of emphasis on their quality and expertise. Our guide in Bariloche has been working with us for many years and she is one of the best, so we will pass on your praise to her!

We had 3 leisurely days on the edge of the Torres Del Paine National Park walking and bird watching and enjoying the wonderful scenery.. We covered a large area of the steppe on 2 public buses and experienced first hand the wildlife and surroundings. We flew into Puerto Montt from Punta Arenas and then spent 3 days at Puerto Varas visiting the Petronius Waterville + Osorno volcanoes. We also visited Chloe Island and viewed a penguin colony , UNESCO churches and several villages. Our trip ended with an excellent guided tour of Valparaiso, Vina Del Mar and a panoramic visit of Santiago. The enjoyment of the whole trip was made possible by the excellent service all the tour guides and drivers provided.; They went out of their way in passing on their local knowledge to us and their manner was friendly and relaxed.
Rating for tour operator:Nick Goodchild tailormade our trip to perfection. All our interests were catered for and the itinerary covered all the places we wished to visit plus more. Without this excellent service we would not have returned home wishiing we could turn around and fly straight back to Patagonia.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts, we always love hearing about our client's travels and are delighted to see you had such a great trip to Argentina & Chile. Nick will be happy to help you planning your future trip to Latin America!
Costa Rica - Nature and Wildlife
16 days staying at 5 different locations. All pick-ups were on time and the guides were very professional. We saw a lot of wildlife and some spectacular views in the central volcanic area. Our last 5 days were spent relaxing at a superb hotel on the Pacific Coast.

Rating for tour operator:Everything was arranged for us by our tour operator together with their partner company in Costa Rica. Our itinerary was put together by Veloso bespoke to meet our specification. We stayed in lovely hotels and the entire holiday went totally to plan without any problems.
Thank you for your kind words, we are so pleased to hear everything lived up to your expectations and you had such a great time in Costa Rica!
As advertised
Ecuador was our first time in South America so it was very important to us that we were well looked after. What an eye opener - we'll certainly be back, not just in Ecuador but Peru, Bolivia and Chile all look likely candidates now! The Galapagos were simply spectacular - we saw just about everything that we expected, and just as advertised close up. Great photos and lovely new friends from around the world.

Rating for tour operator:We had a good choice of recommended tour operators from our friends. Velosos immediately understood the sort of trip we wanted and set about creating an itinerary that we couldn't resist. They delivered it perfectly too, never once were we let down, indeed the services exceeded our expectations.
We put a lot of emphasis on making sure that everything runs smoothly and that you have an amazing holiday, so thank you for your excellent feedback. We look forward to hearing from you again for your future trip to Peru, Bolivia or Chile!

Rating for tour operator:This was our third tour organised by Veloso and as on previous occasions we had excellent service. Veloso offers a very personal service from a team who have personally visited most destinations in the brochure. Telephone conversations are helpful and informative and responses to queries very prompt and frank. Itineraries are well put together and the service, and organised for us in Colombia was excellent throughout. Costs seem competitive compared to other larger companies.
It is always a pleasure to help you plan your ideal itinerary and we were delighted to hear how wonderful your trip to Colombia was. Thank you for your kind words and we look forward to hearing from you again in the future for some more adventures!
Tango, touring and trains
Starting in Buenos Aires for some sightseeing then on to Iguazu to see the spectacular falls. A trip to Curitiba for a dramatic train journey down to the coast. A total contrast, Rio de Janeiro, hot & humid but very lively. Then north to the first capital, Salvador de Bahia, mainly restored with a wonderful new carnival museum. Finally off to Ilha Grande for some relaxation by the beach

Rating for tour operator:Small independant specialist Veloso , guides told us they are one of a few who pass information about the likes/ dislikes of customers prior to arrival so tours can be individually tailored . Knowledgeable and provide good background for places one is visiting .
