exploring South America
We had an amazing trip to Peru and Ecquador in January visiting many ancient sites, exploring the Amazon and ending up in 10 wonderful days in the Galapagos. A holiday to remember.

A perfect tailor made holiday

Everything in our itinerary was covered and the local guides frequently went above and beyond by suggesting and organising extra activities, for example a visit to a local fiesta. There was a good mix of activity and relaxation. We travelled around a lot with a mix of road and air transfers and everything ran like clockwork. The local guides were dependable and always met us promptly and the local agents handling our tour were extremely hardworking and dedicated. Our holiday just got better and better.
Rating for tour operator:Our contact at Veloso spent a lot of time finding out about us and our previous holidays as well as listening to what we wanted to do on our holiday. He was very knowledgeable and made excellent suggestions which enhanced our holiday. We were given comprehensive information and a very detailed itinerary before we travelled, together with contact numbers for agents at every location. Both Veloso and our guides looked after us extremely well, whilst also building in independent time. I would not hesitate to recommend Veloso to other travellers and would certainly book with them again. In my opinion, they are one of the best tour operators I have travelled with.

Exciting and interesting holiday experiences
We flew out BA direct flight to Santiago, whose duration of about 14 hours was great. We spent time in Santiago and surrounding areas before flying 4 hours LAT to Easter Island, where we stayed in Explora Lodge for about 5 nights. Plenty of interesting tours arranged by the Lodge and a good place to stay out in the countryside overlooking the sea and fields with horses and cattle roaming free. On return to Santiago we joined a Noble Caledonia ...

Plenty of interesting tours arranged by the Lodge and a good place to stay out in the countryside overlooking the sea and fields with horses and cattle roaming free. On return to Santiago we joined a Noble Caledonia cruise to Ecuador booked direct with NCL. This was a memorable cruise along the dry Pacific coast of Chile, Peru and Ecuador. In Ecuador we were met by Veloso's rep and shown Guaydaquil and taken to the airport after lunch to fly to Lima to spend a few days in the city on our own. We flew home direct BA flight to Gatwick. On the way to the airport we were involved in one of the longest traffic jams we have experienced with lorries cars motor bikes and goods trains in the road. The flight was delayed as the crew were also delayed later in the afternoon by the same traffic jam.
Rating for tour operator:Veloso had arranged an earlier holiday for us to Peru Macchu Picchu and the Amazon and Lake Titicaca very successfully and we were happy to go with them and their proposals again this year,
Many thanks for taking the time to leave your feedback, we were delighted to help you return to South America and are pleased to hear how well everything flowed.

Rating for tour operator:Had well thought out suggested itineraries and accommodation but very helpful and flexible if we wished to do something different. Drivers and guides were always reliable and usually a source of considerable local knowledge

Holiday of a lifetime. Amazing.
Fabulous holiday in Ecuador and the Galapagos. It lived up to all our expectations and more. I wouldn't hesitate to go with this company again, and would certainly recommend them to everyone. Everything went according to plan and we had the best holiday.

South America 'adventure'!
We had the most fantastic holiday. It was so well organised. From the moment we touched down in Lima till we were dropped at the airport in Rio 18 days later. All the tour guides were fantastic.Very knowledgeable and patient with us. All 4 of us were all over 70 and they took that into account when taking us out, especially going to high altitude places. Our luggage was transported with us as we moved around 9 different hotels. Not a hitch ...

Four short holidays in one - the culture and landscapes of Peru
A combination of sight-seeing, culture, trekking and wild-life spotting. After a short visit to Lima where we spotted Paddington Bear we headed to Lake Titicaca for a 3-night stay, spending one night with a host family on Amanti Island. A day's drive took us from Puno to Cusco with several archeological sites on the way. 3 nights in Cusco to see the sights and a day trip to the Sacred Valley. Accliimatised to the altitude by this time, we then did a 2.5-day, 2-night hike on the 'Lares Treak', camping high in the Andes, seeing no-one other than a few local villagers, their llamas and potato crops - yes even at 4,500m! Then the Vistadome train to Aguas Calientes and another early morning start to catch the first buses up to Machu Picchu. We took the train back to Cusco that night and departed early the next day for Puerto Maldonado and a taste of the rain forest and the Amazon basin. Quite a shock to the system after the cool of the mountains. We saw caimans, howler monkeys, giant river otters, parakeets and macaws, butterflies and tarantulas, but sadly no jaguars - just the tracks. Wellies and waterproofs didn't spoil the adventure. After three nights we headed back to Lima for a final night - a stroll and paddle in the Pacific, followed by one more archeological site at Pachacamac, before heading for the airport and a very comfortable night on the plane! A delight for us that BA fly direct from Gatwick to Lima 3 times a week.
Rating for tour operator:Veloso Tours were originally recommended to us by our travel agent when they organised a trip to Chile for us a couple of years ago. This time I contacted them directly. I had several long conversations discussing aspects of our holiday with members of staff specialising in Peru. They always had time to listen and chat. Wonderful to speak to someone who has personal knowledge of precisely what you want to do and who can make recommendations. If they didn't know the answer to a question, they found out and emailed straight back. Everything on the ground was organised perfectly. We'll certainly go back to Veloso for our next South American trip.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts Mrs Pelmore, we always love hearing about our client's travels and are delighted to see you had such a great trip to Peru!
Thank you for your kind words, it was a real pleasure discussing your trip with you and helping to organise your holiday to Peru. We look forward to planning your next visit to South America when you are ready!
Fantastic Costa Rica trip
Veloso Tours arranged an amazing bespoke trip around Costa Rica - we had an idea of where we wanted to go, and how long we wanted to stay at each destination. Veloso tours also made some suggestions which we hadn't thought of which made our experience even better (e.g. White water rafting on the Pacuare River!). So, three nights in San Jose (visited coffee plantation, Poas volcano, La Paz waterfalls, river rafting), Tortuguero for three nights ...

Veloso tours also made some suggestions which we hadn't thought of which made our experience even better (e.g. White water rafting on the Pacuare River!). So, three nights in San Jose (visited coffee plantation, Poas volcano, La Paz waterfalls, river rafting), Tortuguero for three nights (boat trips, jungle tour, zip-lining, chilling out), three nights in Arenal (hanging bridges, volcano, chilling out), two nights in Monte Verde (Cloud Forest tour, night tour, sugar cane/cocoa plantation), and finally five nights of relaxation in Manual Antonio (gorgeous beaches, snorkeling, National Park tour, spa day). Absolutely fantastic - all the transfers went really smoothly, the hotels were gorgeous and the tour guides were friendly and knowledgeable. This was easily the best holiday we've ever had!
Rating for tour operator:As above - not only did they take into account the kind of trip we wanted, but they made some brilliant suggestions which improved our trip. We only encountered one problem whilst we were away, and it was all sorted out satisfactorily by them (to do with luggage transfer). The travel documents they produced were excellent and gave us all the information we needed in one place - lots of additional info regarding food, places, what to expect etc. Theyalso kept us up to date with everything and were happy to answer all sorts of questions we had. Just superb.
Thank you for your kind feedback, we are delighted that you enjoyed your experience in Costa Rica so much.
Thank you. We are thrilled to hear that you appreciated all of our suggestions, we really love to share the best of this beautiful country.
