Charm & efficiency

Our latest On Foot trip (to the Sabine Hills in Italy) revealed a stunning landscape that seems to be almost unknown to Romans & foreigners alike. All the accommodation was wonderful - and the food was beyond wonderful. For anyone who likes independent walking, albeit armed with a map & detailed directions, On Foot is a must.

Rating for tour operator:

As I've already said: the On Foot team is knowledgeable (which is important for anyone who doesn't already know which particular route they want to walk); flexible (you can start an their itinerary on any date, subject to availability at the accommodation en route); friendly (they are genuinely enthusiastic about their routes); and excellent value (given how much expertise you are buying).

Brilliant

We walked the Lycian Way with On Foot Holidays. The choice of walks was amazing as was the accommodation. Everything was so well organised for us. The accommodation was second to none as was the service by the majority of staff in the pensions.

Attentive - actually rang and e- mailed us in Turkey after a small hiccup with luggage transfer to ensure we were OK.

Stunning Tuscany hilltps

A beautiful walk - with exceptional guide notes - as always. Excellent accommodation particularly in Montepulcino. Very untourisy - except in Sienna. Accommodation hosta - as well as being good hosts were very helpful with any suggestions as to what to do or where to go in town we were staying in.

We always feel totally confident with this company, that what we have provided will work, and totally confident that if something went wrong -and it never has- they would sort it!

Superbly organised walking holiday

Self-guided walking holiday with baggage transfer between destinations in the Andalucian Sierras. We asked On-Foot to organise everything for us from the moment we got off the aeroplane - and they did! They made several suggestions to help us before the holiday and were at the end of a phone when we managed to get ourselves lost one day! Accommodation and walks were varied but all of an excellent standard. We felt we had a rounded experience ...

Rating for tour operator:

On-Foot give a personal service from the moment you contact them. We feel we know the staff personally and they know the details of the holidays we book and the information that is useful to us as travellers. They are willing to organise as little or as much as we ask them to. They even phone us up the week before we go to wish us a happy holiday and to ensure we have everything we need!

On Foot Holidays review

What they said on the website was what we got - and much more. I was particularly impressed with the in-country support. We had a phone call on our arrival night from this person and he gave us very good information about weather and up do date issues on the walk. The other outstanding thing was the office support from the moment of enquiry right through our arrival in Nice and transfer to the start of our walk.

Truly an amazing happy adventure with many lasting memorial experiences.

Once or twice had to stop fitting surroundings to the information. Here the compass readings saved the day! Meeting many friendly locals and experiencing a vast array of cuisine from five star four course dinners, to homely farmhouse family fare. Such a family friendly country. It was a delight, meeting mushroom forages and grape harvesters. Given some grapes to complement the packed lunch, provided prior to departure from our lodgings. Weather was very mixed, however this didn't detract from the picturesque surroundings. Wet weather gear was very useful. A wonderful time, with sightseeing incorporated within the daily walks. Variable weather normal for September prior to the snow coming according to the locals. A real treasure of a holiday.

Rating for tour operator:

Full guidance given prior to, during and after booking. Always pleasant and knowledgeable when approached. A delight to deal with. All the holiday walking guides, maps and compass readings arrived in plenty of time, to enable them to be read through, identifying any area of unrest that could be resolved before the departure. Reassuringly these were all straight forward. Another lovely touch was being contacted the day before departure to wish an enjoyable holiday experience. This inspired great confidence in the tour operator. Will certainly use them again.

Excellent walking, food and scenery.

. It was a brilliant holiday. The maps, references and information for the walks were good and the scenery and ancient sights we encountered were often breath taking. The hotels along the route were very varied in standard, some of them were excellent and others less so. Food was invariably good and the staff friendly and helpful.

On Foot went out of their way to cater for our needs. We wanted to do a 7 day walking holiday in 11 day with an extra 3 tacked onto the end. They arranged everything perfectly for us and at no time did we have any hiccup in the arrangements even though there were numerous opportunities for this to happen. When we had a problem at one of the hotels they sorted it out immediately. On our return they asked for feedback which they responded to quickly. Would thoroughly recommend them to other walkers.

Wonderful walk through Dorset - in the steps of Thomas Hardy

My holiday was a walk from Salisbury to Lyme Regis in England. The 7 days included some beautiful villages, farming country and coastline. The walk was well planned and excellent information was provided by On Foot Holidays on the countryside, including the geography and literary associations (e.g. Thomas Hardy's novels). The walk was rated as medium difficulty, which was correct so met my expectations. Each day I walked from about 18 to 25 kilometres. The final day was along the Jurassic Coast, which was magnificent. The destination, Lyme Regis, was a fascinating town and well worth spending an extra day there, which I did.

Rating for tour operator:

On Foot Holidays staff were brilliant - very professional and communicative. The booking process was easy. The material to prepare for the walk was sufficiently detailed, arrived very promptly and they were very helpful at all stages. The accommodation booked was extremely comfortable and my luggage always arrived at the destination hotel. This was the second walk I have done with On Foot Holidays, the other being in Tuscany in 2012, and I plan to do more.
