Scenic Arcadia

Spent a week hiking the Menalon trail in the Peloponnese, Greece on a trail that links mountainside villages. The arrangements were perfect with a blend of small hotels and guest houses; the app provided made logistics easy and, as always, the transportation of luggage from one location to another was seamless. And - the weather was perfect and the scenery beautiful!

Classic Slovenia by Bron, 4 Nov 2024

It was a self guided walking holiday starting in Ljubljana and ending in Trieste

The holiday was split into 3 parts. A few days in Ljubljana then a 6 day walk to Trieste and then a few days in Trieste. This was about 100km. We stayed the night in really good hotels on route and our bags were transported to the next hotel. The walks were through beautiful countryside on good tracks. My wife and I are in our late 60s and fairly fit (well my wife is). The walks were fairly hard - but not too hard to stop our enjoyment...

We were originally booked to go on another route earlier in the year - but we had to cancel at fairly short notice because of ill health. On Foot Holidays were extremely understanding and helpful. They cancelled the original holiday. Early in September we booked this holiday at short notice. On Foot Holidays central staff and the local guides / representatives were very helpful and enabled us to modify our plans on route and fit in a couple of wine tastings and a trip to Lipizzaner to see the horses. I can't recomend them enough

A special mention also of the local rep Aznar who was fantastic, his knowledge and advice was very welcome. The region rightly lived up to being authentic, its rugged coastline with beaches and walks on headlands that had no crowds, was a joy. The food was fantastic, the people, their hospitality and helpfulness everywhere made us feel very welcome.

on foot holidays We have used this company many times now, they have always delivered exactly the walking holiday we have sought . By example helping us further to often juggle getting there, getting back, where the start end of the breaks require extra days sometimes by necessity - sometimes we want more time to explore, so in addition to the advertised walk- they have always been able to add value- with suggestions or options with other excellent recommendations of places to stay. They demonstrate to me that they want us to truly get the best out of our walking and exploration of the regions they offer as holidays breaks.

Outstanding views! Great accommodations.

We did the 5 night amalfi walk and loved it. Everything was perfect and on foot holidays service was outstanding. Some climbs were hard, but in the end worth it.

Hilltop and Ancient Towns in Umbria Italy without Tourists

We walked delightful forgotten paths for eight days south from Spoleto. From tiny town to tiny town and enjoyed local food topped with truffles. Our days where all different, navigating our way through valleys, forests and across mountains - not another tourist did we meet on our hikes, just a few Italian locals on the weekend.

The holiday was better than we could have hoped for. The accommodations were good to great. The scenery was beyond belief! The trails were very well marked. The food was fantastic. The entire experience was life changing. Everything was a positive - not one negative - that's an amazing trip!!

On Foot was fantastic. Their communication was wonderful - i was very grateful for the quick responses and all the helpful hints and tips. Our local contact in Spain was also fantastic - super helpful and knowledgeable with local idiosyncrasies that he was able to help us work with - especially restaurant reservations and booking cars.

We spent 7 wonderful days walking through valleys and up to plateaus, through farmland, forests, villages, on wide and narrow paths, with few people and no traffic. The hotels were great as was the food. We appreciated that most nights included a meal at the hotel which gave us more time to relax after walking 8-15 miles. Breakfast buffets were always generous and most offered quite a variety as were the packed lunches that were included most days. The app was extremely helpful as it would warn us if we made a wrong turn. We carried paper instructions and a map for each day as well, so with all three, we were never confused for long. The weather was pleasant except for a couple of rainy days, but we were prepared.

Rating for tour operator:

All questions ahead of the trip were answered promptly and we appreciated the flexibility when we wanted to change the itinerary a bit. We also got a chance to visit local tour operator, Emily for coffee and cookies on the first day's circuit walk.

Beautiful walking holiday in the Dordogne

Starting October 6, 2024, we spent a week in the Dordogne. Six of those days we were walking, and we took one day off in the middle. The route was beautiful, and not too terribly strenuous, averaging 8 to 10 miles a day. we used a couple of shortening options by riding with the luggage. Our accommodations were always good and we especially loved the food.

On Foot was very involved and communicative from the first time that we contacted them. This is our fourth trip that we have made with On Foot Holidays. They also talked with us on the phone before hand to help us pick a route. Well hiking, their on the ground person was involved and got in touch from the beginning. She even made it possible for us to rent a car on our day off and visit a cave.

Challenging self guided walking holiday

Challenging self guided walking holiday

Rating for tour operator:

They organise and book accommodation along the way often in remote areas, they liaise with a local contact, they organise some of our food including packed lunches, they organise luggage transfer, they provide detailed notes and maps of the route, they provide backup lifts in event of injury or tiredness, they advise on travel to and from start and end points, they provide handbook on culture, history, food and wines of the area - excellent for armchair holidaying before and after actual holiday
