Well organised by On Foot Holidays, the accommodation and support throughout was very good in particular evidenced by the excellent walking pack notes and route App on our phone which was excellent. A special mention also of the local rep Aznar who was fantastic, his knowledge and advice was very welcome. The region rightly lived up to being authentic, its rugged coastline with beaches and walks on headlands that had no crowds, was a joy. The food was fantastic, the people, their hospitality and helpfulness everywhere made us feel very welcome.
Rating for tour operator:on foot holidays We have used this company many times now, they have always delivered exactly the walking holiday we have sought . By example helping us further to often juggle getting there, getting back, where the start end of the breaks require extra days sometimes by necessity - sometimes we want more time to explore, so in addition to the advertised walk- they have always been able to add value- with suggestions or options with other excellent recommendations of places to stay. They demonstrate to me that they want us to truly get the best out of our walking and exploration of the regions they offer as holidays breaks.

Outstanding views! Great accommodations.
We did the 5 night amalfi walk and loved it. Everything was perfect and on foot holidays service was outstanding. Some climbs were hard, but in the end worth it.

Hilltop and Ancient Towns in Umbria Italy without Tourists
We walked delightful forgotten paths for eight days south from Spoleto. From tiny town to tiny town and enjoyed local food topped with truffles. Our days where all different, navigating our way through valleys, forests and across mountains - not another tourist did we meet on our hikes, just a few Italian locals on the weekend.

Rating for tour operator:Fabulous support, notes and advice, including a local contact when we needed help.
fantastic experience beginning to end
The holiday was better than we could have hoped for. The accommodations were good to great. The scenery was beyond belief! The trails were very well marked. The food was fantastic. The entire experience was life changing. Everything was a positive - not one negative - that's an amazing trip!!

Rating for tour operator:On Foot was fantastic. Their communication was wonderful - i was very grateful for the quick responses and all the helpful hints and tips. Our local contact in Spain was also fantastic - super helpful and knowledgeable with local idiosyncrasies that he was able to help us work with - especially restaurant reservations and booking cars.
Lovely, peaceful walking in the Dordogne.
My sister and I picked this are to walk inspired by the Bruno Chief of Police mystery books by Martin Walker. We spent 7 wonderful days walking through valleys and up to plateaus, through farmland, forests, villages, on wide and narrow paths, with few people and no traffic. The hotels were great as was the food. We appreciated that most nights included a meal at the hotel which gave us more time to relax after walking 8-15 miles. Breakfast ...

The hotels were great as was the food. We appreciated that most nights included a meal at the hotel which gave us more time to relax after walking 8-15 miles. Breakfast buffets were always generous and most offered quite a variety as were the packed lunches that were included most days. The app was extremely helpful as it would warn us if we made a wrong turn. We carried paper instructions and a map for each day as well, so with all three, we were never confused for long. The weather was pleasant except for a couple of rainy days, but we were prepared.
Rating for tour operator:All questions ahead of the trip were answered promptly and we appreciated the flexibility when we wanted to change the itinerary a bit. We also got a chance to visit local tour operator, Emily for coffee and cookies on the first day's circuit walk.
Beautiful walking holiday in the Dordogne
Starting October 6, 2024, we spent a week in the Dordogne. Six of those days we were walking, and we took one day off in the middle. The route was beautiful, and not too terribly strenuous, averaging 8 to 10 miles a day. we used a couple of shortening options by riding with the luggage. Our accommodations were always good and we especially loved the food.

Rating for tour operator:On Foot was very involved and communicative from the first time that we contacted them. This is our fourth trip that we have made with On Foot Holidays. They also talked with us on the phone before hand to help us pick a route. Well hiking, their on the ground person was involved and got in touch from the beginning. She even made it possible for us to rent a car on our day off and visit a cave.

Challenging self guided walking holiday
Challenging self guided walking holiday
Rating for tour operator:They organise and book accommodation along the way often in remote areas, they liaise with a local contact, they organise some of our food including packed lunches, they organise luggage transfer, they provide detailed notes and maps of the route, they provide backup lifts in event of injury or tiredness, they advise on travel to and from start and end points, they provide handbook on culture, history, food and wines of the area - excellent for armchair holidaying before and after actual holiday
Magical Portugal
We took the On Foot Portugal walking tour and loved every moment. It was beautifully and thoroughly organized and truly such a rich experience.

Rating for tour operator:On Foot gave us a ton of information before our trip that made it so enjoyable and fascinating. We loved reading about the history and were so impressed with On Foot’s detailed knowledge of the area, inns and history.
Bracing coastal walking in quiet Green Spain
Our favourite type of holiday: self-guided hotel to hotel walking with luggage transfer. We were keen to try this route having previously had good experiences walking in Northern Spain. We weren't disappointed - except by the weather on a couple of days as we caught the remnants of a couple of tropical storms coming off the Atlantic. However, readily handled with the right kit. Splendid cliffs, spectacular beaches, a well-waymarked route clearly explained in the notes with shortening options if required, and sea views almost constantly. A good selection of small characterful / idiosyncratic hotels with welcoming hosts, and a reliable listing of local restaurants. Everything worked as described.
Rating for tour operator:OFH are a joy to work with. Somehow they always give you the feeling that you're their principal client, when clearly theymust be handling lots of queries, bookings, etc, simultaneously. Response times are very impressive, and internal communbications are seamless - nothing gets held up because it's someone's day off - another person picks up the matter and it's progressed. You never have to repeat or recap a query or an issue. There is a strong body of knowledge around the office of every route, and that local insight can easily be accessed if required to deal with an obscure query. Feedback is welcomed - and as far as I can see is acted upon - which is in stark contrast to most companies' approach to customer surveys. Aznar - OFH's man on the ground for this - and other - routes in Northern Spain is an invaluable person to have at the end of the phone / text should anything need tweaking - shortening options, speaking to a restaurant in the next place etc.. Helpful, efficient, but not overbearing.
