Fascinating

Great introduction to such a foreign country. We were whisked around the country and given a great deal of information about all the cities and sites. Also time was left to explore on our own when we wanted.

Reassuring in the pre departure phased very accommodation when we all met up. Very well organised tour without seeming too controlled.

Amazing self guided tour options in Japan

Toby tailored the Essential Honeymoon tour to suit our needs with the addition of a two day trip to Hiroshima and Miyajima Island. Put simply we feel our self guided tour in Japan was absolutely amazing! The itinerary put together for us made the travelling between destinations seem like a breeze. Toby also asked us if there were any other activities we wanted to do while in Japan and he went out of his way to find the correct information, including travelling to the Vissel Kobe football stadium to watch a match while staying nearby in Osaka. The Essential Honeymoon itinerary really takes you to some beautiful places too with the highlights for us being Tsumago and Mount Koya.

An amazing experience of Japan!

10-day independent self-guided tour of Japan. Commenced in Tokyo (one day guided), then to Hakone (traditional Ryokan), then to Kyoto (one day guided), and finally back to Tokyo. Amazing country; great scenery, fantastic trains (especially the Shinkansen); also really good, polite and helpful people, and amazing cuisine.

Excellent level of pre-holiday detail provided, including prompt answers to questions raised. Enabled the holiday to run very smoothly, which meant we got the most out of it, without any stress.

How Fantastic Can A Holiday Be? 100% FANTASTIC!

I recently went on a fabulous small group tour with InsideAsia (Japan Unmasked). I loved the options and especially liked the walking and travelling via local transport. I got the opportunity to see and meet real people and authentic experiences. I loved the fact that I was with a small group and not a huge coach load of tourists. InsideJapan. Caring people and nothing is too much trouble. They really know how to pick interesting things, sometimes a little out of the ordinary.

Hokkaido Winter Wonderland

In short, it was fantastic. Hokkaido was beautiful and the people were friendly. We managed to see a host of native wildlife and enjoyed the majesty of the Sapporo snow festival. We even got a little snow in Kyoto! We had the chance to drink tea with a maiko and meet the deer of Nara. I had a wonderful time.

This is my third tour with the Inside Asia Tour group. They have always been a pleasure to work with and produce excellent tours. They pack a lot of experiences into a short 2 weeks and I look forward to travelling with them for a 4th time.

Fascinating, enjoyable, different.

A very varied two weeks in Japan: culture, history, art, nature, food, scenery, lovely people. Japan is a really different experience, even to those of us who have been lucky enough to have visited many countries. It is impossible to summarise, but some impressions may give a flavour: lovely polite and friendly people; clean and efficient; frenetic in places, but also many sanctuaries of peace and quiet if you look for them. Food is often a work of art. Persimmon trees, snow monkeys, snow!, earthquake!!, superb public transport. Coffee and cake shops everywhere. People taking a real pride in their products and in providing excellent service to customers. Oddly comforting toilets..... Buddhism, Shintoism, and Christianity., blended. A country that is at one and the same time very familiar in terms of technology, and very different in terms of culture.

Rating for tour operator:

Overall, excellent. Pre-tour explanations and details could be improved. Organisation of transport and accommodation, faultless. Tour guide excellent - efficient, resourceful, and an all round good guy.

Fascinating introduction to Japanese culture and contemporary life

We had never visited Japan before, and the Japan Unmasked tour took us to a diversity of places - cities, towns, countryside, temples, shrines, castles and restaurants - all using Japan's superb public transport. Highlights of the tour for us were the dramatic Matsumoto Castle, a cycle ride through the paddy fields, and wonderful food, which was far more varied than we realised (not just sushi).

The tour was well organised by Inside Japan, with good information and advice from the travel consultant beforehand, and helpful advice from the tour leader when we wanted to strike off on our own.

How to submerse into Japanese culture

We booked our holiday through InsideJapan Tours expecting them to book a few hotels and theme parks for us. The entire trip was a success, we travelled through Tokyo, Kyoto, Miyajima, Hiroshima and finally Osaka with ease, InsideJapan provided us with helpful booklets on how to get around, what subway lines to use and other places to do some sightseeing that we may not be aware of. We had constant contact with the office in England and Japan if we needed it. There was never a problem with language as we had vouchers for each hotel/tickets for theme parks that were in English and Japanese. All hotels are tried and tested by InsideJapan Tours and each hotel did not fail to impress, all hotels provided us with breakfast and all food was absolutely delicious. The holiday was absolutely perfect.

I ordered a brochure in March 2015 and had follow up emails from the lady who would become our consultant through the entire process. She answered all my questions for a year whilst I saved up to pay for the holiday and was so friendly and helfpul. Our consultant made sure to capture all aspects of our interests and worked hard to make sure our holiday was jam packed and ready to go. Everything was taken care of, all we had to do was get to the airport. She worked hard to answer all questions we had about all aspects of the trip and made sure that this was the holiday of a lifetime. I recommend that if you're planning on going to Japan even if you've been before that you use InsideJapan Tours. They offer guided tours and tailor made tours to cater for your needs. They made it very easy for us inexperienced travellers to get from A to B with no worry. I will definitely be using them again.
