I cannot fault the holiday arrangements made by Prestige Holidays and we thoroughly enjoyed our two weeks in Sicily. I would however make the following comments. 1. Sicily is very mountainous so if you are travelling make sure your car is upto the job. We upgraded our car from a Fiat Punto 1.2 to a Renault 1.6 and even so we had to take some of the hairpin bends in first gear. 2. Sicily are not really geared up for the tourist trade. We went to numerous Museums, monuments, churches etc which are frequented by thousands of tourists each year and found that many do not have any description in English. In a lot of instances you really do not know what you are looking at. 3. If you are touring make sure you have a Sat-Nav you will not get far without one. Preferably take one with you which is in your language. 4. Take out full insurance cover for the car. Why? because there do not appear to be any traffic rules in Sicily. Cars motor cyclists and pedestrians just do there own thing it manic particularly in Palermo. Also the roads are in the worst condition you will ever experience particularly in the mountains. However if you just go with the flow and do not get up tight then you will enjoy Sicily which is unique in so many ways.

We did not meet up with Ilona Mernieks but her letters with travel instructions explaining exactly how to get to our next destination were delivered to our hotels as we moved around the Island. WE found them very useful as the Sat-Nav did not always take us to exactly the right spot

The holiday was booked at the last minute through the excellent Sovereign Holidays in Wimbledon. Transfer from the airport was excellent and the hotel staff welcoming - always a good thing. Our adjoining rooms had fabulous street views and were of a high standard. I have only praise for the desk staff who helped to make our short break memorable with very good recommendations for restaurants- including a 'typical Croatian one that we particularly enjoyed. We had lunch in the restaurant each day and were served by a delightful young man - the food and coffee were great. The only complaint that we had was that on the last day when we ate at the restaurant prior to leaving, there were different staff in the restaurant and the service was frankly terrible from the two women on duty. However, I will be taking this up with our travel agent - but we haven't let it spoil what was a lovely holiday!
