Wonderful walk through Dorset - in the steps of Thomas Hardy

The walk was well planned and excellent information was provided by On Foot Holidays on the countryside, including the geography and literary associations (e.g. Thomas Hardy's novels). The walk was rated as medium difficulty, which was correct so met my expectations. Each day I walked from about 18 to 25 kilometres. The final day was along the Jurassic Coast, which was magnificent. The destination, Lyme Regis, was a fascinating town and well worth spending an extra day there, which I did.

Rating for tour operator:

On Foot Holidays staff were brilliant - very professional and communicative. The booking process was easy. The material to prepare for the walk was sufficiently detailed, arrived very promptly and they were very helpful at all stages. The accommodation booked was extremely comfortable and my luggage always arrived at the destination hotel. This was the second walk I have done with On Foot Holidays, the other being in Tuscany in 2012, and I plan to do more.

self directed walking holiday using both maps and descriptions, Food great. all instructions were so detailed even when unsure within a few hundred meters it is made obvious you have taken the wrong path. stayed at several different hotels en-route. All the accommodation was exceptional and very homely, never felt like a number or just another 'punter'

He certainly looked after us. The extra day at the beginning to see Lake Bled was well worth it despite the weather. The walk instruction were spot on and the routes very enjoyable. The accommodation at the end of each day was great the hospitality couldn't have been better. The special treat of a terrace pool on the Tourist Farm Skerlj at Tomaj really was the icing on the cake. The food on the tourist farms was exceptional, and frequently surpassed our expectations. We spent two days in Trieste which got us back into the real world after lovely days spent wondering through the beautiful changing Slovenian countryside. Lots more to explore in Slovenia and will definitely return to explore more!

I travelled with a friend and she dealt directly with On Foot. The were very informative and kept us very well informed, answered all questions we had and were very knowledgeable about the country and routes. Nice touch was a phone call a couple of days before we left to wish us a happy holiday followed by a call when we got back to make sure that our trip had gone well. Would definitely recommend them to others.

The whole holiday was marvellous - the walks themselves, the landscape, woods as far as the eye can see, flower-filled meadows, the people, a nice finale in Trieste and the organisation and support of On Foot Holidays.

Garrotxa Grandeur

My wife and I hiked six days in the Garrotxa region of Catalunya northwest of Barcelona. The route selected provided a fine mix of forest and flora, mediaeval villages, fascinating and spectacular geography. We'd been told to expect afternoon thundershowers at that time of year (September) but the weather turned out to be glorious -- sunny and clear, not a drop of rain. Our arrangements (hotels, luggage transfer, navigation instructions etc.) were made by On Foot and they were all first-rate. We had no prior experience with On Foot so we didn't know what to expect but, looking at our experience in the rear-view mirror, we have nothing but good things to say about On Foot.

Hiking in Northern Portugal

In September 2013 my wife and I did a "On Foot Holidays" seven day hike in the hill country of Peneda-Geres Portugal. On Foot Holidays provided us with detailed trail maps, trail notes, and directions for transportation to the start point. They arranged lodging, transport of our luggage and provided us with local contact.

On Foot Holidays does a wonderful job of planning independent hiking vacations in a number of countries and locations. They do a very complete job of taking care of all the details so that their clients have an enjoyable and trouble free hiking vacation. They are a pleasure to work with. We have enjoyed On Foot Vacations in France, Spain and most recently Portugal.

A delightful trek, with excellent instructions, over beautiful mountains in Northern Italy

On Foot Holidays organised for a group of 6 of us to walk about 100 miles in Liguria, staying in small hotels en route. They made the bookings, and arranged for luggage to be carried from one hotel to the next, and - most importantly - supplied excellent instructions telling us exactly where to walk, sometimes on small paths and nearly all in areas without signposts.

Expertly organised holiday in a beautiful area

We went to Provence with On Foot and had an excellent time. All the hotels we stayed in were lovely, the food was delicious and the weather was perfect for walking - dry and sunny but not too hot. The office staff, particularly Debbie, were very helpful with sorting out arrangements for getting to the start of the walk and advice on where else we might want to visit in the area.

On Foot have an excellent range of walking holidays in beautiful unspoilt areas. We have been on two of their trips and all the arrangements were very well organised - hotels, trip notes, luggage transfer - and the staff take a personal interest in ensuring clients have a good holiday. They even rang us up the day before we left to say they hoped we had a good time.

A delightful introduction to a charming part of provence at ground level

I had not travelled in Provence before , nor with what the French insist on calling One Foot, and I was attracted by a reasonably strenuous walk, unaccompanied and to my own timetable. I made my own way by rail to Avignon Station with my 42 year old son and was delighted that thereafter the beds, catering and routes were able to unroll with a minimum of confusion as the maps and village plans were highly comprehensive and annotated. Some of our evening meals were excellent and where we were fending for ourselves suitable guidance was available. All accommodation was perfectly adequate and occasionally eccentric but enjoyable and although variable the range of packed lunches was also fine. The area was far less densely populated than I had anticipated and I felt a genuine affinity with a natural area. Our 2 nights in Avignon were well based booked through On Foot although we were properly left to our own devices. The individual taxi arrangements were efficiently executed although the first driver did not know where the hotel was in the small village where our walk began. The local contact was extremely helpful to my son lending him walking poles when he was suffering from knee strain but we were treated as grown up walkers and not pestered. On Foot has a light touch which in preparation is very personal and in due course I would hope to travel under their arrangements again.
