Fabulous 'other world' scenery!

We had a wonderful time on the Naturetrek Iceland in Autumn - Glaciers, Icebergs & Watefalls trip. Interesting, knowledgeable tour guide and we visited so many places, all with stunning scenery. We even managed to see the Northern Lights on the first two nights!

It's our second Naturetrek holiday. The tour guides on both trips were fun to be with and very knowledgeable. Naturetrek pack a lot into a relatively short time but they make sure we see the best of where we are. An excellent specialist tour operator.

An extraordinary view of Greece and its wildlife

This was a specialist tour, visiting three sites in Northern Greece bordering the Turkish and Bulgarian borders. We travelled extensively visiting landscapes not normally associated with Greece in most peoples minds, Forests, mountains marshes and lakes, full of exciting birds like Vultures, Pelicans flamingos and many others. The food was amazing, people friendly and helpful and not much traffic on the roads. I am inspired to travel to Greece ...

I am inspired to travel to Greece again next year and will certainly use the same company ( indeed, I have already booked!)

Amazon Wildlife Cruise

Cruise seeking wildlife - mainly birds and monkeys - in the Amazon basin, mainly on the Rio Negro. Centred on a small cruise ship, about 12 cabins, with canoe trips to explore the river and (flooded) forest. Expert guides were very enthusiastic. Highlights include Toucans, Macaws and river Dolphins.

An expert-led botanical tour of the Swiss Alps

Day trips to examine different spring time Alpine flowers were organised from our comfortable base in Pontresina Switzerland. Travel was accomplished using the excellent Swiss public transport system of trains, buses and with cable cars to higher mountains. The day tours were carefully planned so that something new was seen each day.

The tour operator- Naturetreck- is a very well organised outfit with detailed information prior to and during the trip. We have used them before as they have an excellent reputation and would use them again for this sort of holiday.

This was a small group tour to Romania with Naturetrek, starting with three days in the Carpathian Mountains followed by four nights on a floating hotel on the Danube Delta, and two nights in Tulcea.. There were 14 guests and 2 guides, one who travelled with us from London and the other a local guide. Birds and mammals were the focus but there was much interest and enthusiasm in the natural environment and several of us were left with the desire to return to explore the flora and fauna further. There were many highlights, but for me it had to be the mammals: firstly brown bears - twelve in total including cubs, with a red fox trying to steal the show, in the mountains. Then we were privileged to see a European wild cat, a golden jackal and souslik in the Danube delta. The birders on the trip were not disappointed with the extensive range and number of birds - over 160 ticks on the bird list! Added extras included tortoises and butterflies. Having a local guide gave us huge insight to the country and with local knowledge our whole experience was elevated, certainly exceeding my expectations.

Rating for tour operator:

Naturetrek operated the trip. The whole process worked well, from initial booking to arriving home at the end. The guides were excellent throughout.

Perfect in every way

In Finland on the Just Bears holiday, we saw loads of bears and took masses of photos. We also had time to see the countryside and learn a bit about it. The accommodation was excellent. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience

A wonderful experience of nature and culture in the Vercors

The title of the holiday was France: Butterflies and Moths in the Vercors. I had a wonderful time, seeing an abundance of butterflies and moths, getting to know the unspoiled and beautiful countryside, enjoying a comfortable stay in the hotel in very pleasant surroundings, and having a great leader for the trip and congenial fellow travellers .
