Brazil - Just Jaguars

We stayed at 3 different lodges, one of them floating. Being on the flotel allowed us more time in the boats to see the jaguars and other animals. The guides were very knowledgeable and accommodating. The lodges were comfortable and in good locations and the staff and food were very good.

They were able to answer all of our questions before we booked the trip and responded on a timely basis. They provided detailed itineraries, what to expect, what to do before you go and all other information we needed. They were able to book hotels before and after the tour as requested, as well as transfers. This is our second trip with this operator.

A Herpetologist's Dream!

The Reptiles & Amphibians of South Africa's KwaZulu Natal was a fabulous safari in the south-east of the country, north of Durban, focussing on, surprise surprise, reptiles (snakes, lizards, chameleons) and amphibians (frogs and toads). We flew to Durban and then travelled up the coast to the Mozambique border, taking in a number of nature reserves and different landscapes. There were only 3 of us in the group which enabled us to get close-up and personal with some amazing creatures. Our guide, Tyrone, was a reptile expert and knew exactly where to look to find and photograph some wonderful and rare creatures. The highlight of the trip was accompanying him to extract a Mozambique Spitting Cobra from the bathroom of a very unhappy lady in a town called St. Lucia. In spite of getting some snake venom in his mouth, Tyrone succeeded and later released the snake (after we had had ample opportunity to photograph and video it.). Many of the creatures we wanted to see were nocturnal so we also went out after dark most nights armed with head torches to carry on the search. In addition to the reptiles and amphibians, we also saw some amazing birds and large mammals. A wonderful, all-round safari experience with a hands-on and knowledgeable guide!

Enjoyable, well organised and interesting

The holiday was a week long birding visit to North Spain. We were a party of 7 travellers and the guide. Komodo to Bali

Despite last minute rescheduling because of volcanoes on Flores Naturetrek delivered again a fantastic snorkelling holiday. The corals surrounding the Indonesian island we were able to were stunning, teaming with wildlife and we were privileged to swim with Reef Manta Rays, Whale Sharks, Hawksbill and Green Turtles - what's not to like?

Rating for tour operator:

Been travelling with with Naturetrek since 1988 and had 25+ excellent wildlife focussed holidays with them. Some holidays have include local culture - Cambodia, Sri Lanka for example, others more committed to the extensive wildlife in the Antarctic, Falkland Islands and South Georgia - birds, cetaceans, penguins and mammals always accompanied by excellent and very knowledgeable wildlife experts.

Channel billed and white throated toucan were also frequently seen as were white faced saki, squirrel, spider, brown and weeping capuchin and howler monkeys. Rating for tour operator:

This was a trip designed by Naturetrek and myself. Naturetrek responded well to meeting my wishes and the collaboration avoided either missing out Kabalebo, or joining their standard programme. Because George of Naturetrek had been there, he knew that the standard programme at Kabalebo was unsuitable for a serious nature photographer. I was very keen to visit as I knew it was an outstanding area of rainforest. With his help, we manged to book a private guide for the bulk of my time in Kabalebo and this led to some truly exceptional wildlife sightings and great photographic opportunities. The ground agents, Unlock Nature, could not have been more helpful and their guides were not also excellent spotters, but had boundless enthusiasm.

This was the first trip with Naturetrek and everything was very well run. The guide had excellent knowledge of Peru in all areas, having lived there for many years.
