Wonderful wildlife, especially the birds.
A 12 day trip to Sabah in Borneo, staying in 4 different lodges/hotels. It ran very smoothly and we saw some fantastic birds. The guide however seemed rather inexperienced and could have been a lot better. The local guides on the other hand were extremely good.

Searching for tigers
I went to two tiger reserves, Kanha and Bandhavgarh spending the time on game drives with excellent guides who were excellent. I saw many different animal species, including seven tigers and an elusive leopard. It was just wonderful.

Spectacular geology and amazing wildlife in Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks
We first spent 4 nights in Jackson Hole and explored Grand Teton national Park followed by 4 nights in West Yellowstone and 3 in Cooke City so we were able to see many of Yellowstone's attractions and a wide variety of wildlife. We had every kind of weather from warm sunshine to heavy snow and, at one point, our route was closed because of snow. Our guides dealt calmly and capably with every situation that came our way.

Romania: Carpathian mountains and Danube Delta
A superb wildlife holiday led by very knowledgeable guides . The well planned itinerary allowed the exploration of a variety of habitats affording excellent sightings of flora and fauna. Particularly enjoyable was the floating hotel on the Danube where we were enjoyed very good dining.

Memorable
Exciting and exhilarating sitting on the edge of the Cantabrian mountains waiting for wolves to appear as the sun rose. We encountered a group of 6 and a fleeting dispute with a brown bear that stumbled across their patch .

Wolf-watching in Northern Spain

Our days started spending early mornings siting motionless scanning beautiful valleys in the mountains at different spots where our guides knew wolves often rested in search these elusive creatures, followed by a coffee and grilled croissant, before going for a walk each day experiencing a different habitat (woodland, mountain valley, river side), and then finding a beautiful spot for a picnic, and then driving to yet another different area and scanning open fields for wild cats. After two early mornings when we did not manage to see wolves (although one of our local guides fleetingly saw one), on the third morning we were in for a treat when we did not only get to watch for over an hour two adults with their 4/5 cubs but also got to see them chase a large adult bear venturing on their territory. Throughout our trip, the guides tried their hardest to ensure we fully enjoyed the experience and saw as much as we could (our animal/bird tick sheets were pretty full at the end of every day). At the crucial moment when we finally got see wolves our guides thoughtfully offered to take photos/videos through their telescopes so we could bring back mementos. A fantastic 50th birthday treat and amazing holiday which I will remember for years to come.

This was the first time I went on holidays with Naturetrek. I was very impressed with my dealings with them from start to finish. All the individuals I spoke to were incredibly professionals - from people at their head office to the guide who accompanied us as well as the local guides/drivers who took around; they were all incredibly well informed and helpful. I would highly recommend Naturetrek to all those interested in wildlife. All the worries about planning, what to take, what to do and where to go are taken away from you. Their knowledgeable local guides will significantly increase your chances of seeing rare animas/birds/plants. Our holiday was a vey rich and diverse experience, and we did and saw an incredible number of things/animals in four days (without it being a tiring experience)!

Just Jaguars
The holiday was well organised. The pre departure information very complete. We were lucky enough to be able to admire several Jaguars as well as lots of birds and other Pantanal wildlife like kaaiman, capybara, monkeys, giant river otters... The flotel, which was our home for 4 days, has an excellent location in the middle of jaguar territory. The place to be. It was wonderful to see different Jaguars. We even watched a kill. What needs to be done however, by the local touroperators, is to try to better regulate the sigthings as it became quite hectic as soon as a jaguar was spotted. A system like only allowing a certain number of boats for a pre defined time at a sighting would be an improvement and make the experience even more exclusive. It does work well in the private concessions in Africa. We also loved the lectures given by the resident biologists in the evening. This holiday certainly is to be recommended for animal and bird lovers
