Could do better

First hotel in Seattle, Crowne Plaza, only had us booked in for 2 nights instead of the 3 in our itinerary. Thankfully the hotel staff agreed to add the extra night, but not the best start. I was told the car hire deal was the best that could be done, but had to have a one way drop off fee of a hefty $500 as the car was to be dropped off in San Diego; I have since found better deals with other companies by a quick internet search. Perhaps it is a deal between the holiday company and Alamo that is more important than value for money for me. To rub salt in the wound the car I was given had a California plate and hence I paid $500 to return the car from Washington State for Alamo!! Hotels on the whole were good apart from the Shilo Inn Newport Oregon that is very tired and in need of refurbishment, but described in the holiday itinerary I was given as "beautifully appointed guestrooms". Locations also left something to be desired with some isolated and with little local facilities unless you got back in the car and drove somewhere. The Santa Barbara hotel was over 4 miles from the seafront and made enjoying the bars and restaurants not too convenient. Descriptions also need more attention to detail with one hotel given as in Turnwater, when in fact it was in Tumwater, and another describing a totally different Hilton hotel in downtown San Diego when we were booked into a hotel 5 miles away!! Overall the holiday was very enjoyable with the spectacle on the Pacific Coast Drive delivering plenty of WOW, but could have been better.

First Class Holidays need to put more effort into the detail.

First class experience!

A perfectly organized self-drive tour through an amazing country. The pre-departure information and the actual tour information were comprehensive and very useful, and all the arrangements (car, hotel, vouchers for included activities) were as described in the brochure and trouble-free. Rating for tour operator:

Very helpful, very friendly, responded to questions very quickly and efficiently, even on Saturdays. Necessary changes to the program were transmitted immediately and submitted for approval, even though the changes resulted in upgrades rather than in compromises. The tour operator and/or the local agent did an excellent job in selecting destinations, hotels, recommendations for activities and stops on the drive. It is obvious why this tour is a bestseller! We thoroughly recommend 1st Class Holidays and look forward to travelling with them again!

well organised with spacious accommodation

Coach travel was planned to take in interesting visits but get in to hotels at a reasonable time. Room keys were handed out on arrival by the tour director without delay. Two comfortable double beds in each room and on the penultimate night our hotel room overlooked Niagara Falls.

As above really - the itinerary was the most helpful part

Had a day trip to Niagara Falls a super experience on a beautiful day ,regrettably 3 of the party caused a delay of 45 minutes. Travelled by train to Montreal a most enjoyable journey again stayed in the Fairmont that is on the site of the main station. A very open city and enjoyed the sights on the city tour. Were due to take a tour to the Laurentions but cancelled due to lack of nummbers Was suggested by the concierge we hire a car and we had a most enjoyable trip to Mt Tremblant . The next stage was again by rail to Quebec similarly a very pleasant journey through the countryside . Our stay in Quebec was unfortunately not of the standard of the previous ones in that the decor was drab and the ambience of the place was not particularly welcoming. Quebec was a very interesting place to visit particularly the Old Town where there was a lot of quaint stores and very nice restaurants. All in all a most enjoyable trip with all arrangements being largely of a very high standard

1st Class Holidays Documentation and information were excellent. Would suggest a review of the Auberge in Quebec.
