Berlin five day break

Trains from London to Berlin via overnight in Cologne, returning four days later in one day. All trains and hotels were exactly as expected (very good/excellent) and all information was spot on - including what to do if, for example, we missed a connection. Comforting but not needed.

Experience the Real Romania

This was my second visit to the country. The first was good but I was attracted by the itinerary for this one. This was my second visit to the country. The first was good but I was attracted by the itinerary for this one. The tour manager/guides could not have been bettered for their care and their knowledge of the localities. The accommodation included guesthouses and hotels all very clean with full facilities, although, like a lot of places abroad I did value my travel kettle. We saw a lot of places that only an independent traveller would cover. For some people the railway element will be of more importance than to me but the use of narrow gauge lines, some closed to the public, further advance the local experience. My two negatives were both travel related. One, the final journey to Cluj had to be fast and over minor roads to avoid a closure. The other an optional rail journey which was crowded and I could have opted for an alternative trip by road. Minor problems in a memorable two weeks. Do not miss the Memorial to the Victims of Communism and to the Resistance at Sighet Prison!

An excellent tour of Spain by rail which we very much enjoyed.

We spent two weeks in Spain staying in Barcelona, Madrid, Granada, Cordoba, Seville and Toledo. In planning the holiday we suggested our proposed route to Ffestiniog Travel together with a wish for mid morning or slightly later departures from our various destinations (no getting up early required!)and everything was arranged exactly as we wanted including an interesting and sometimes quirky hotels (the excellent Hotel Barcelo sants seems to have been designed as a cross between a cruise liner and a space ship). All in all a wonderful holiday.

We have used them four times now for various continental rail holidays and in every case they have been extremely efficient, friendly and able to provide exactly what we wanted.

Mountains to ice caves - amphitheatres to steam trains in southern France

Our holiday took us up cable cars to view Mont Blanc, then down to walk inside ice caves. We travelled to Carcasonne to see amphitheatres onto Pont Du Gard and then steam trains up and down the side of the most beautiful gorges with their tints of autumn colour just showing. It was like three holidays in one. Brilliant. Especially as it was an escorted tour with Ffestiniog Travel so we had nothing to worry about as everything was taken care of.

All the tickets arrived in good time before we left England. We had a detailed list with the names and addresses of our hotels, and where we would be on each day. What time we would be leaving and arriving and where meals would be provided. We had a direct contact number for our Tour Guide in case of emergencies.

A joy from start to finish

Swiss Alpine holiday with 2 weeks in various regions of Switzerland. 1st class rail travel throughout, small compact group lead by excellent knowledgable tour leader who provided excellent advice and information. This felt a very personal holiday, well organised and with flxibility to do your own thing and not be herded around in a large group. Thoroughly recommended with most of the rest of the group having taken many holidays with Ffestiniog

A great experience with a lot of freedom to do our own thing

We had an experienced overseas traveller with excellent knowledge of the area as our tour leader. Ffestiniog Travel Penrhyndeadraeth Wales. Nothing you ask is too trivial. They are happy to modify your outward and return travel arrangements and extend your stay to tailor your holiday to your exact requirements. They use only experienced travellers as their tour leaders and give value for money.

Exploring Poland by rail

We had a 4 city holiday flying into Warsaw and then by train to Gdansk onto Poznan and finishing in Krakow flying back home to Birmingham. We had roughly a day and half in the first three cities and a couple of days in Krakow. We greatly enjoyed the trip - people extremely helpful and the standard of the hotels and the cuisine much above expectation. We travelled unescorted which meant we didn't feel quite so touristy. Highly recommended.

Ffestiniog Travel organised the whole trip booking our flights, accommodation and train tickets plus transfers to and from the airport. We chose the cities we wanted to visit and they did the rest.
