Trip of a Lifetime

Never in my wildest dreams did I think that I would ever take part in a trek in the Sahara Desert.. Discover Adventure team members were awesome and the local guides and crew were fantastic too. Nothing was too much trouble and I would highly recommend DA to anyone who is wanting to take on either a personal or charitable challenge.

Discover Adventure Sahara Desert Trek

Discover Adventure is a wonderful company catering for all abilities of traveller. I am a 66 year old Granny-- having Trekked with D.A four times. Each time I travel with D.A it brings home to me how much organisation goes into the trips. The Crew-- both D.A and local are chosen carefully, to ensure the safety and well being of the trekkers. I have been on the Sahara Desert Trek before, but this time was exceptional, because of the whole team ...

Eye-opening

A fascinating insight into Vietnamese and Cambodian life. Travelling through villages and along tracks that the normal westerners would not get to see. Hot and hard work, but very rewarding.

The company is highly professional, provide first class guides and excellent local crews.

The Kalimantan Jungle trek is an amazing experience, tough but a challenge in every sense. If you want to really experience life from a local perspective, that's what you get. You have to be prepared to lose European sensibilities and get back down to nature but if you are, the rewards are immense. Discover Adventure use only the best local crews to make sure you get full value from being in a truly wonderful part of the world.

DA clearly put a lot of effort in making sure they operate with the right UK based leaders (which gives you great confidence on the trek) and employ the right local crews to give you a 100% experience.

The discover adventure crew were just amazing, Vic, Helen and Dave - complete stars. The local crew in the Himalayas led by Raj were brilliant and couldn't do enough for us. The food was delicious - was planning to lose a few pounds not put it on! The trek itself was incredible - stunning scenery walking through amazing landscapes, meeting the most genuine Nepalese people and sharing the experience with 40 now lifelong friends. Would sign up again tomorrow!

Rating for tour operator:

Whilst in the Annapurna range cyclone HUD HUD hit, unleashing torrential rain, wind, thunder and lightening, washing out our camp and creating treacherous conditions. But if I'm ever in a cyclone again I want Vic, Helen, Dave and raj's crew with me! They were amazing - not once did we feel scared or nervous about our safety - their professionalism, patience and sense of humour inspired confidence in every one of us and we reached Sickles without a single broken bone which was incredible.- thank you

Discover Adventure Ltd responded to this review on 05 Dec 2014:

Well done Karen for completing the trek and raising lots of valuable funds for Paul Sartori Foundation. Thanks for the feedback.

Adventurous

It was a great trip - slow start to get to know people because terrain required concentration but the group turned out to be pretty cool. Dave and the doc were great and made me laugh.

Kilimanjaro Trek

The trip was a six day trek to summit Kilimanjaro via the Machame Route. This is a tough trek by anyone's standards and requires a good level of fitness. It was one of the hardest things I have done but also one of the most rewarding. Not just the sense of achievement, but also being able to share the hardship and the beauty of Africa's highest peak with people who became new friends.

Rating for tour operator:

Discover Adventure Kilimanjaro Trek was excellent. It was well managed and the local Ashante Trek crew were easily the best on the mountain. Not just in term of their organisation but the pace control was superb, resulting in a very high success rate for a 6 day trip. They also took fantastic care of everyone on summit day. I even saw them massaging one ladies feet while cooking her pancakes in an effort to get her down safely. Well beyond the call of duty IMO. I would recommend Discover Adventure to anyone looking to go on an adventure trip not just Kilimanjaro, they clearly employ excellent staff both the UK Leaders as well as local support staff. I will certainly be using them again and am happy to recommend them toanyone else.

Cycling on and off road on varied terrain, stopping for great local lunches off the beaten track and the good hotels as we went. Group of 53 with 5 wonderful DA staff, including a doctor, and a huge local team that did everything for us, from stopping traffic to being tour guides...

Group of 53 with 5 wonderful DA staff, including a doctor, and a huge local team that did everything for us, from stopping traffic to being tour guides. As well as cycling, we visited the Killing Fields, passed floating villages on the Mekong River, bartered in local markets and went for a ride on a bamboo train. Thoroughly recommend DA and this trip.

Rating for tour operator:

Nothing was left to chance. Pre-trip arrangement great, on-trip arrangement great. Knowledgable staff who were great leaders and also part of 'the team'. Supported by wonderful local staff who rode with us, carried us across rivers, took photos as we travelled, mended punctures and guided us around the points of interest. They left no rubbish and the money collected from the photo CD was gifted to the local orphanage,

Mt Kilimanjaro challenge

It was not holiday - it was a long and arduous climb to the top, but a fantastic challenge. We had a group of 29 including a Western Tour leader and Dr plus a support crew of 70 local Tanzanians and each person was vital to the success of the group. It was a truly amazing experience and all praise due to Discover Adventure for operating such a well oiled program. The camaraderie was fantastic and I felt 100% in safe hands from start to finish ...
