Jaguar Feast
Excellent itinerary to the Pantanal in Brazil. Staying at three locations, one being the brilliant 'Flotel' on the river. More sightings of Jaguar than we could have wished for. We were lucky to see 8 different cats on 14 occasions over the course of the holiday, including a mating pair and a hunt of some capybara. Lodges used were very good, the food plentiful and tasty and the guides brilliant. Thoroughly worth the money paid for the trip, ...

Just Jaguars, a real experience
A wildlife dream tour to a remarkable area of the World. Not only did we see eight different Jaguars on fourteen different occasions, we saw three different families of Giant Otters, four Brazilian Tapirs, a Giant Anteater and literally hundreds of bird species. Marsh Deer, Coatis, various monkey species dozens of Capybaras, hundreds of Caiman; all were seen and photographed with amazing regularity throughout the tour. I can't speak too highly ...

Marsh Deer, Coatis, various monkey species dozens of Capybaras, hundreds of Caiman; all were seen and photographed with amazing regularity throughout the tour. I can't speak too highly of the entire Naturetrek experience, from the initial booking to meeting up with our tour leader Nick, who, literally must be the very best anywhere, and that is not any exaggeration. All in all: perfect.
Rating for tour operator:Naturetrek, Very friendly, very knowledgeable, super efficient, nothing is too much trouble. Any problems prior or during the trip always dealt with quickly and cheerfully. I have a very unsophisticated palate ( I blame my mum back in the '60's! ) but it has never been a problem when travelling with Naturetrek. To sum them up, none better. Each tour guide I have been with were complete masters of their craft.
The very best way of viewing animals with expert leader and all matter taken care of.
An opportunity to view rare mammals in South Africa starting with the game parks near Kimberley and covering the Trans National Park. It was spring and the Northern Cape had wonderful flowers but the Kalahari was dry and scrubby. We did nighttime and daytime safaris and saw wonderful animals from the blackfooted cat and bateared fox to the honey badger, aardwark, spotted hyena and tiny springbok lambs. Rating for tour operator:Naturetrek are extremely reliable and I have travelled with them many times to many countries. They are generous and do not cut corners but provide more services and treats than expected. A swift changeover at Joberg was accomplished remarkably quickly because they operators to meet us and take us through the formalities. Their guides/leaders are sensible and kind and happy to impart knowledge. The accommodation is decent, sometimes very good.
Well led, very interesting holiday with a full programme based at a friendly Spanish ecolodge.
Whale and bird migration holiday based in an ecolodge near Tarifa. Very full programme but enjoyable. Led by helpful, flexible and knowledgable leaders. Great fun.

Rating for tour operator:Arranged holiday at very short notice (while we were away), flying from a local airport with complete efficiency. All documents etc awaiting us on our return to fly out a couple of days later.
Fantastic dolphins & whales
Trip to La Palma in the Canary Islands to see whales, dolphins, birds and butterflies. The boat trips out to sea were great, we saw 3 species of dolphin right by the boat and some beaked whales. The hotel was comfortable with good food and friendly staff in a great location by the cliffs so we could watch for birds and dolphins by the pool.

Iceland in Autumn: Glaciers, Icebergs and Waterfalls
Only our second Naturetrek trip and with much to live up to after a wonderful mid-summer exploring the Lofoten Island, Norway, in 2014. Marcus, our tour leader, Naturetrek and Iceland did not disappoint! From meeting us at the airport, Marcus spared no effort to ensure that our trip lived up to its title and to our expectations. The arrangements, itinerary, accommodation and travel were all of the same high standard we had experienced previously with Naturetrek. As for Iceland, it was without doubt, the star of the show. On our very first night, at Gullfoss, we were treated to an awe-inspiring display of the northern lights as our after dinner entertainment! The aurora were just the start of the show. Bubbling mud pools and erupting geysers, cascading waterfalls with near-permanent rainbows, glaciers grinding down from immense ice caps and icebergs rolling and bobbing in a lagoon only to be swept out to sea along a very short and equally fast-flowing river were all part of the daily scene for us. Just how many rolls of film would we have needed if it were not for our digital cameras and memory cards? As for the geological history, we barely scratched the surface. Walking over rocks that didn't even exist at the time of the Norman conquest was almost impossible to believe. Fantastic!
Rating for tour operator:From the sheer weight of the annual glossy brochure, you would be forgiven for thinking that Naturetrek was the size of a small multi-national company. Whether it is , or not, the personal touch is that of a family business. Every aspect of Naturetrek is friendly, utterly professional and reliable. Nothing is too much for them to sort out. On both our trips they have expertly planned and booked extensions and alternative travel plans to fit our personal requirements. With so many exciting trips on offer, where will our next Naturetrek holiday take us?
LOVING MADAGASCAR'S LEMURS
It was a two week wildlife holiday. What made it very special was the fact that all the participants were like minded so got on so well. It also, helped that the Naturetrek guide was knowledgeable, had previously traveled in Madagascar, so could share her knowledge and obvious love of the country and its people. Even though there was a lot of travelling, it didn't seem to matter, as there was friendly talk in the vehicle and also plenty to ...

It also, helped that the Naturetrek guide was knowledgeable, had previously traveled in Madagascar, so could share her knowledge and obvious love of the country and its people. Even though there was a lot of travelling, it didn't seem to matter, as there was friendly talk in the vehicle and also plenty to see and take in as we went along. Accommodation and food were above expectation. The guides we used in the rain-forests when looking at the wildlife were both proud of what could be seen there and experienced at what they did.
Rating for tour operator:Ive used Naturetrek several times now, if something works dont change it. The office staff are very polite and if you have a query, soon come back to you with an answer. Their pre travel holiday pack is thorough and gives you all you need to take with you, and do's and dont's of the particular country you are going to. So, if you read this, there are never any nasty surprises. Their brochure will also tell you things like 'there is a lot of travelling' 'the roads are not always to European standard' etc. So from the brochure you can choose if the holiday is for you. They are up front and not just trying to sell the holiday at any cost.
A wildlife tour of Swwden in autumn
Four days in central Sweden exploring various wildlife habitats in a small guided group. A two centre holiday, the first accommodation being very good, the second OK. The trip was everything we had hoped for.

Wildlife holiday to Iceland
A seven day three centred holiday to Iceland, focusing on wildlife and scenery. Good hotels, weather was remarkable and so was the scenery. Good leader as per usual with all Naturtrek holidays. Added bonus of remarkable views of the Northern lights.

Butterflies & Moths of the Spanish Pyrenees
1)Naturetrek provided an excellent trip in July this year, to a wonderful location in the Spanish Pyrenees. The accommodation was conveniently positioned to maximise our visits to the lower, higher regions and the border area with France. 2)Pre-departure information was complete and provided on a timely basis. 3)The group stayed at the well run family guest house Casa Sarasa, in Berdun, situated in the foothills of the Spanish Pyrenees. 4)An ...

In addition, within the group were many knowledgeable members who added to the experts knowledge. This ensured that we sighted over 100 different butterfly species, varied plants & many moths. A moth trap was set-up each evening to review the following morning before breakfast. 7)With the excellent weather throughout the trip, we managed to see and photograph the Pyrenees at their best. 8)Many Griffin & Egyptian vultures were sighted during the trip. Towards the end of the trip the group went to a vulture feed. Carcases were put out and from a hide we were able to see over a thousand vultures descending over the course of our visit. A WOW factor. 9)The trip exceeded my expectations
