Superb Safari and Beach Trip

We enjoy visiting Kenya in December because it is quieter than many other times of year. A couple of nights here as the only guests ensured that we were well looked after by Heather and her staff and included a full day's trip to Lake Nakuru N.P. Loldia House, on the shores of Lake Naivasha and part of the Governors' group - is not too far from Nairobi and was a very good place to start. A couple of nights here as the only guests ensured that we were well looked after by Heather and her staff and included a full day's trip to Lake Nakuru N.P. The food was excellent, the room comfortable and spacious. We used Governors' own airline to fly to the Maasai Mara from the Loldia strip - about forty minutes - and then stayed for four nights at Il Moran. You won't see the hundreds of thousands of wilderbeest or zebra that frequent the park during the migration, but there are residents (the ones without passports as our guide, Paul, described them!) and all the other animals that you could wish for are still present. We enjoyed long game drives, taking breakfast with us each day so as to be able to visit distant sectors of the park and had a succession of fantastic game viewings. The camp is very comfortable and, again, food and service standards are high. To recover from the early mornings we flew from the Musiara air strip to Mombasa for a few days in a beach hotel. The Serena Beach Resort does not offer an exclusive, boutique experience, but the rooms are spotless, food good and there is a lovely pool to both cool off and swim in.

Amazing family safari and beach holiday in Kenya

Richard Trillo and Expert Africa put together a superb itinerary for us and our 2 kids (age 11 and 12). The logistics worked flawlessly, and even for a very well travelled family, it was amongst our best ever holidays.

Understood what we wanted, found us places that we would never have found ourselves and ensured that everything went flawlessly. Couldn't have asked for a better service.

Tsavo Kenya

Expert Africa designed a custom safari, based around the Patterson experience with the "Maneaters of Tsavo" and the railway bridge he built in 1898. Also, added hunting for spitting cobras, and maneless male lions. Everything was done in the best way, with the most success.

Rating for tour operator:

I have gone with Expert Africa three times now. I normally use a tour operator only once, but Expert Africa has gone out of it's way to design custom safari's for me. (Another tour operator called me a nightmare, and accidentally sent me the E-mail with that statement in it. The statement is true -- I am hard to work with.)

A Trip down Memory Lane - after forty years!

We chose to celebrate our Fortieth Wedding Anniversary with a personalised trip to old haunts. Instead of the camping of our youth, the accommodation was a mix of five star and friendly African. Fortunately the only changes we noticed were the tribesmen carrying guns instead of spears, and the villagers living on Aid wearing European clothes and demanding money for photographs. It was fun to find we could still speak some Swahili, and to reread The Constant Gardener after visiting Oasis Lodge and actually visiting Wolfgang, mentioned in the book.

Rating for tour operator:

The trip was tailor-made for us, and Richard was always ready to answer our questions personally.

A brilliant 70th birthday treat!

Given our fairly specific criteria, Expert Africa put together a varied and comprehensive package, visiting 5 venues in Kenya and Tanzania; it covered virtually all East African animals and a wide range of terrain and habitats... The camps were varied and all good, in different ways. Everything worked well including transfers, drivers and connections... The camps were varied and all good, in different ways. Everything worked well including transfers, drivers and connections... As was pointed out it wasn't a standard first safari package, but as independent and experienced travellers it hit the spot... I would recommend Expert Africa for an excellent and worry free safari experience... We saw everything we hoped for and more... We visited: Nairobi National Park Laikipia Wilderness Encounter Mara Impala Camp, Salous Mwagusi Camp, Ruaha

Rating for tour operator:

Brillaint, helpful and always available... I would recommend Richard Trillo for his knowledge, helpfulness and enthusiasm for Africa...

ExpertAfrica Kenya Safari

At our request, ExpertAfrica organized a personalized trip to Kenya for three of us (parents and a grown child), within our budgetary constraints. We visited three camps, each offering a view of different aspects of safaris in Kenya. El Karama Eco-Lodge offered an interesting link between historic cattle ranching and a low key impact on life in Kenya. The Mara Ngenche Safari Camp took us into a dense, thickly-forested riverine forest. ...

We were quite isolated until we emerged into the savannas to find wildebeest (etc) and the ever-present lions--and the flocks of tourists in their many vehicles, including buses. Quite a contrast with the El Karama area. Our third stop was the elegant Tortilis Camp with huge herds of elephants. An interesting extra event here was a most interesting visit to a Maasai village.

Rating for tour operator:

Richard Trillo from ExpertAfrica did a wonderful job, integrating our desires for a trip to Kenya and a modest budget. It wasn't "cheap" but nevertsheless "modest". Richard listened carefully, heard what we wanted, and organized everything: flights, pickups, camp reservations. In fact, down to the last detail. And everything worked out! We were immensely pleased with ExpertAfrica and would highly recommend them for safaris.

They also understood the importance of lighting and positioning for photographs. We have been on many wildlife trips but this was our best.

Rating for tour operator:

We have travelled with Expert Africa on a number of occasions to different countries within Africa and have always had a fantastic holiday. The fact that they are a small operator covering just a small number of countries means they have extensive knowledge and personal experience of the places we want to visit. They are all passionate about Africa and it is great to be able to speak to someone who has been to the region regularly and visited the areas and camps we are considering. Our recent trip was to Kenya and the person who organised the trip for us is the author of the Rough Guide to Kenya. You really can't get someone who has more experience than that can you?
