A Travellor in Time: A Unique Experience of Life with the Czars in 18th Century St Petersburg

With two great art historians leading us through the myriad of treasures in the Hermitage, with privileged behind the scenes and private visits to several palaces, this was an 'MA standard' week - a once in a lifetime experience.

Ciceroni travel left nothing to chance. All the necessary travel details were carefully presented, the hotel accommodation was excellent, as were the various restaurants visited. The Ciceroni office was always ready to answer any questions - nothing was too much trouble.

Jewels of Andalucia

A week in the Cordoba-Seville-Granada triangle visiting the well-known and some less well-known towns and sites, with excellent tour managers and local guides, The Roman, Moorish and Christian history and influences were clearly described and seen. Very good hotels and plenty of great food and wines.

Rating for tour operator:

A small British company specialising in historical, cultural and artistic tours. Co-owned and on this tour led by someone steeped in the history and culture of the region and with an ease of delivery that made the knowledge immediately accessible. Individuals’ needs are paramount for the company, both before and on the tour and they willingly, for example, arrange pre-tour airport accommodation and car parking.

An introduction to the Netherlands and the Dutch Golden Age

Over seven days of impeccable organisation 22 of us enjoyed excellent accommodation, well chosen meals some of which were outstanding, a variety of sites and sights, the services of good local guides and above all the wisdom and extensive knowledge of Tom Duncan as he both led us through the history and enthused us as he highlighted some of the artistic treasures in both The Hague and Amsterdam.

In the Museum in Trento, the most beautiful tapestries I have ever seen were on display . Surprising to see green hillsides covered with apple orchards as well as vines as we drove around the countryside. Both centres were interesting but different, hotels likewise. The Grand Hotel in Bolzano was a step back to the grandeur of the fin de siecle style. I loved it! and 5 different types of croissant on the breakfast buffet! what a treat! Our guide was very knowledgeable and informative, and the group blended well. Some of us took the chance to see the Iceman - in the specially created Oetzi Museum (in Bolzano). Well laid out exhibition, and fascinating to realise the amount of research that had gone into, and was continuing, to discover the secrets of life 5,000 years ago.

An exploration of the Trentino Alto Adige

A very well balanced small group tour, covering art, architecture, history, scenery and within the compass of excellent Hotels, food and wine. We particularly appreciated the Ciceroni audio guides which also cater for the hard of hearing. We particularly took this tour as it was led by a very competent and erudite Tour Director, with whom we had travelled before.

Ciceroni Travel are everything we look for in a cultural holiday: very good and helpful office staff and administration; small groups, intelligent well paced itinerary, always a good standard of hotel and the opportunity to dine in specially chosen restaurants. Very well qualified tour directors/lecturers and hand-picked local guides.
