LoveLy location in picturesque Lastres

We enjoyed the location of our property with sandy beaches very close by & the Picos mountains also a short drive away. The weather was very good & driving around easy. The location of the property would not be ideal however for anyone with a disability, infirm or unfit! The house also had 2 flights of open tread stairs which would also not be ideal for everyone. Excellent customer service, very efficient, courteous & sorted out any problems with great efficiency.

Many thanks Helen, we're so glad you enjoyed Lastres an the house.
Thanks also for the comments regarding the house's limited suitability for people with disabilities. Due to its very nature and location at the heart of the higglety-pigglety lanes of Lastres fishing village it would certainly present a challenge for any such persons and of course we would always advise against that particular house in those circumstances (and also for people with very young children). Otherwise we think it's those very elements which add to its charm, as you seem to have found yourselves. Your comments are very helpful though and we've added a note to the main house description just to avoid any such issues.

A lovely relaxing break

We spent a week in a traditional cottage in the small port of Camelle in the Rias Altas region of Galicia with Casas Cantabricas. The cottage was lovely and the service good. Would recommend this part of Spain for a relaxing break.

self catering in Galicia

We got excellent service from a small independent travel company. They're experts in the area where they operate.

The customer service from Casas Cantabricas is fantastic. They are efficient and friendly. Few other companies operate in Galicia and we would recommend them to anyone booking hotels or self catering.

Definitely a hidden gem of Spain

We stayed in two different gites, one in Lastres the other in Caviedes. Very different in size, location and style but both comfortable and well equipped. We spent time on the beaches and in the local towns. Fantastic food, good value for money.

Rating for tour operator:

Very attentive, answering the smallest query quickly and efficiently. Very patient with our requests, and negotiated a 6 rather than 7 night stay with one house owner which really helped us out.

Relaxing holiday. Beautiful setting.

We had a great week in Asturias. The Casa that we stayed in was was a really old village house, beautifully restored and well equipped. The village, Colunga, had everything that one needed and was within walking distance of the Casa. The beach, also walking distance was lovely. Asturias is known as Green Spain/Costa Verde and it wouldn't be so without some rain which we had a day of but also lovely sunshine though not TOO hot which suited us...

Asturias is known as Green Spain/Costa Verde and it wouldn't be so without some rain which we had a day of but also lovely sunshine though not TOO hot which suited us. There are beautiful villages, beaches and mountains all within easy reach and plenty of history in the area - cave paintings, dinosaur footprints and old towns. Overall, something for everyone.

Rating for tour operator:

Excellent information prior to leaving, including an app with all the information regarding accommodation as well as lots of other local information and helpful hints for those new to Spain. Also, superb information available in the Casa we rented.

Great time in an unspoiled location

We found a well-equipped and well-designed cottage in the heart of a village which felt unspoiled and rooted in history, with great views over the mountains. A very authentic-feeling and relaxed experience all round.

Rating for tour operator:

We organised our own travel and week, so less a tour operator than a booking agency and manager of the cottage, but they did their job very well.

Many thanks Matthew, that's most appreciated! We're so glad you found Casa Anja a good base to get to know the Picos de Europa.

Beautiful peaceful setting

The casa was as described ,setting was perfect with a beautiful area. The only downside was the weather which went from extreme heat to overcast and raining.( although we are well aware this is beyond your control ! ) The mill was very well appointed and provided everything we needed .

New part of Spain for us, gorgeous beaches and countryside, most other visitors Spanish and Portuguese. Pretty towns. Lots of good ham and seafood. Very relaxing
