Wonderful Week of Art on the Cote d'Azur

The tour guide, Suzanne Fagence Cooper was excellent, presenting detailed, informative introductory lectures and leading us into the rich and varied world of the artists attracted by this region. We were also most fortunate in having Geoffrey Pharoah as out tour manager. He was charming, quietly efficient, brilliant at problem-solving and attended to all our needs. The hotel, the Grimaldi, was well positioned in Nice and run by a very helpful and friendly family. In addition, transport by coach was very good, the drivers managing to set us down near to all the museums and places of interest, which was no mean feat. I am delighted with the tour and will savour many happy memories of this brilliantly planned, full week. Thank you, Liz Steadman.

A very enjoyable and informative tour.
I went on the tour "Churches of Norfolk: An Appointment with Angels. An excellent Tour Director, Imogen Corrigan, very knowledgeable and informative, with little snippets of entertainment dropped in. We visited 12 churches in total over tree days, some quite far flung from Norwich, where we were based, but never felt rushed. Our Tour Manager, Alison Marshall, was extremely helpful and supportive, and the coach driver very calm and safe.

Visiting all the main visitor sites in Athens plus several archaeological sites in the area, including Eleusis, Marathon and Sounion. All extremely interesting and the tour was led by two extremely knowledgable archaeologists.

Rating for tour operator:Good communication and excellent information provided prior to trip. Understand Tour Director responsible for planning daily trips and these were excellent. However, some things that I generally take for granted on such trips i.e. porterage and coach facilities either were not good or not available. Lugging luggage uphill to hotel not a great start! Although we had an excellent coach driver and his knowledge of locality superb it was not matched by the coach provided which was old (like the majority of passengers) and had very poor facilities. The hotel was in a beautiful location and provided excellent meals but had no lift. No indication of this given prior to trip.
Thank you for your response. We are delighted that overall you appear to have enjoyed the tour. However we are very sorry that you felt that there were some shortcomings. Unfortunately the hotel does not have a lift and much to their disappointment have been refused permission to install one as they are a Grade 2 listed building. They do however have a number of ground floor rooms (3 in the old building and 8 in the new separate annexe) specifically available to those who feel uncomfortable using stairs. They also offer porterage service and I am sorry if this wasn't explained at the time of your visit. We weren't aware beforehand of the quality of the coach, and unfortunately were not made aware during the tour otherwise we would have addressed the problem at the time, and rest assured we will not be using this vehicle again. Although coach access to the hotel entrance is possible (as many sporting teams arrive in this manner), the coach driver may not have felt confident reversing up the drive and I am very sorry that you were inconvenienced in this way. Please accept our sincere apologies.
We hope that the poor quality of coach will not deter you from joining one of our future tours.

Rating for tour operator:This was not our first tour with ACE Cultural Tours. We chose this holiday because we love Sicily and were happy to return under the guidance of a team who know the place well and have done their homework thoroughly. A big plus for us was the 'expert' whom we had met on a previous ACE tour of Algeria. We knew we were going to see good places and gain an understanding of their significance. ACE cannot be faulted for their pre-holiday information, tour managers and thoughtful itineraries.

Inspiring and fascinating cultural tour
An intensive and well-managed introduction to Chinese historic gardens, landscapes, painting, calligraphy, philosophy and poetry and their interaction. We also gained lots of insight into recent history from excellent guides.

Rating for tour operator:Well organised centrally and an excellent tour director with local contacts and good knowledge of her subject. Her insights provided additional stimulation. Very good choice of hotels and restaurants.
Bilbao and Barcelona visiting art and architecture
A very well planned, exelllently escorted experience. Good appropriately chosen Hotels in both centres. The Tour Director was very well qualified and very good at answering questions and expanding our interests. The Tour Manager Spanish by birth, was a very good guide, translater and helpmate to all of us. I really feel I could not have chosen a better tour - as well as the informative content I enjoyed the company, the food and ...

A pleasant trip to Gurney country
The holiday led us to an improved appreciation of the part played by the Gloucestershire countryside in the poetry and music of Ivor Gurney. I have told my friends that that we walked through the landscape that Gurney and the other Dymock poets enjoyed, and poems were read out at appropriate places by our leader, Kate Kennedy, who clearly knows her stuff about both the poetry and the music.

Rating for tour operator:This was my first trip with Ace Cultural Tours, and I found the two leaders efficient and pleasant. I may well go on another Ace tour.
Eastern Macedonia and Thrace
Tour to part of Greece less frequented by tourists, with stunning landscape and islands, wonderful museums at ancient sites, picturesque towns and villages, excellent hotels and food, and careful attention from tour leader and guide.

Algeria is a fascinating country to visit. ACE Cultural Tours took us to all the major Roman sites, as well as other highlights. We were well looked after and had an interesting and enjoyable experience.
