My Kind of Aventure
Wilderness Scotland is like a well oiled machine. The guide and office team work hand and hand to maximize a positive experience. Food and lodging exceeded our expectations, and the communication, itinerary, and group size was right up our alley. We were able to see and do much more than on our own or with a large group operating outfit. Scotland is gorgeous and Wilderness Scotland allowed us to experience the real/local Scotland.

Rating for tour operator:John Hamilton was a true professional! His communication was excellent and his concern for our personal safely, comfort, and enjoyment sincere. When the weather interfered with the ferry schedules, he worked tirelessly, with his team, to organize alternative activities and/or forms of transportation that enhanced our journey. I can't say enough about John and hope to take another journey with his as my guide.
Memorable Guided West Highland Way hike
What a memorable hike! Stunning scenery, from woodlands of rocks, roots and waterfalls to serene lakes, to farmlands of iconic Scottish cattle, sheep, wildflowers, farmhouses and abandoned Crofter's homes, to endless expanses of mountainous vistas as far as the eye can see. Enduring and surmounting Scotland's Highlands' ever-changing weather, challenging terrain and mileage. Feasting on gourmet dinners and filling, satisfying breakfasts. ...

Enduring and surmounting Scotland's Highlands' ever-changing weather, challenging terrain and mileage. Feasting on gourmet dinners and filling, satisfying breakfasts. Picnicking along the way. Resting weary bodies at unique inns after a dram of local whiskey or a pint of local lager. Enjoying camaraderie with people from different countries and walks of life. Lead by excellent, caring, knowledgeable guides Dave and Jamie. What a spectacular way to celebrate our 25th Wedding Anniversary! Thank you Wilderness Scotland!

Rating for tour operator:3rd trip with WS, and I am once again SO impressed. Our original guide got sick the day before, and WS seamlessly replaced him with 2 fabulous guides, each taking some day's guiding duties. Additionally, we had some "weather", and the itinerary was adjusted perfectly. Accommodations were both stellar. Restaurant choices were awesome. The Cairngorms were beautiful .
The Great Glen Way, self-guided
We had an excellent holiday walking the Great Glen Way. There were definitely long days, but we felt prepared with all the information and planning that was done for us ahead of time. The entire trip/hike exceeded expectations-- from the accommodation choices and local recommendations, to the detailed trail instructions, to the luggage transfer-- everything felt so easy and relaxing the whole time. Rating for tour operator:Our booking through Wilderness Scotland was the best choice we could've possibly made to have a fun and well-planned hiking adventure. Their agent, Emily Schaschke, was available to answer questions, thorough in explanation, and clear on steps and what to expect. The accommodations were great, and I can't imagine having to book all that on my own, so it feels like money well-spent to leave the details to those who know the region best.
Scottish Highlands Walking Holiday
We had a guided tour of the Scottish Highlands. We stayed in wonderful accommodations and were able to see some of the most beautiful landscapes.

An incredible Highland Adventure

My husband and I spent two weeks in Scotland - the first week in Edinburgh and Pitlochry celebrating a wedding, before kicking off a Highland tour organized by the Wilderness Scotland team. We completed a self-guided driving tour through Braemar, the Isle of Skye and Glencoe, before returning to Edinburgh. Every detail of the trip was seamless and thoughtfully organized, and hit all the right notes that we were looking for - beautiful countryside, hiking, fantastic food experiences, and time to relax. Rachael was a fantastic resource before the trip, learning about our preferences before proposing a fantastic itinerary. When we needed to make some changes, both months ahead of time and in the days leading up to the trip, she responded quickly and suggested great alternatives, including arranging for the rental car to be dropped off at our hotel a day early. We fell in love with the Fife Arms, our hotel in Braemar with an exceptional whiskey bar, and enjoyed the most incredible and unique day with our guide Mungo, hiking over the hills to visit chef Ghillie Basan for a Whiskey Food Safari. We moved from there to the Isle of Skye, an exceptionally scenic drive, before checking in to our home there at the Three Chimneys. Food was a priority for our trip, and the Three Chimneys was a great home base for us. We had fantastic recommendations for how to spend each of our days, ranging from visiting remote beaches to the best artisans on the island. We finished the trip with a beautiful two days in Glencoe. When my husband fell ill and we cancelled a day of rainy hiking in favor of a cozy day by the fireplace, our intended guide Rhona was kind enough to offer to pick up medicine and anything else we needed.
Rating for tour operator:I would not hesitate to recommend Rachael and the Wilderness Scotland team for any trip through Scotland - you can expect a seamless experience, thoughtful details, and access to unique opportunities tailored to your interests.
Fantastically Beautiful Hiking
I had a wonderful time hiking in some remote and beautiful areas of Scotland. The difficulty level was as described and the items advised to pack were also appropriate. Our guide adjusted for the weather and individual interests while still providing all the hikes we expected to experience. Natural beauty was combined with historical and cultural information and future endeavors towards re-wilding.
