Madagascar Encompassed
This much be about the best itinerary available to see the real Madagascar, unlike many, not just flying from one lemur park to another. There is so much more to see than just lemurs and baobabs, and although these were certainly a major feature, this trip exposed us to many areas and aspects that most tours miss, allowing us to see the way of life of many different local cultures at extremely close quarters. Rating for tour operator:Wild Frontiers is a company I first came across about 10 years ago, and have been using on a regular basis ever since. A first rate company offering some really great tours.

The Silk Road from Beijing to Istanbul in 2 months
We travelled as a group of 14, mainly overland from Beijing via 4 short flights, 4 trains (3 of which were overnight) and lots of mini-buses, eventually getting to Istanbul 2 months later Of necessity the tour was fairly "high intensity"and all hotels were either 1 or 2 nights. A lot was crammed in, including 15 World Heritage Sites I though that the tour organisation and tour leader were exceptionally good

Rating for tour operator:My wife and I have taken 7 holidays with Wild Frontiers to really remote corners of the world and have always been very satisfied with them. That does not mean to say that there are not things that I would have changed to improved the experiences - say the odd hotel, and odd local guide - but overall I think that they are as good as they get. Their Head Office Staff are very knowledgeable on giving advice and information, and they do not try to do a hard sell

Bolivia has been on our list for a long time. It's funny how things workout but an email from Wild Frontiers showed up in my wife's mailbox describing a trip like the one we had envisioned. Two days later we were signed up. From the first meeting of our guide, Liz, we had a good feeling about how the rest of the two weeks would play out. Our travel companions are all well traveled and prepared for any eventuality. As the trip unfolds I realize ...
As the trip unfolds I realize what a diverse experience we are in for. The roads vary from 2 track, 4 wheel drive, paths to ultra smooth asphalt highways, the landscape is ever changing, I was engaged staring out the vehicles window the entire time we were on the move, the accommodations included Palacio de Sal, what I would call a 5 star resort, to Los Amigos Habitationes,a basic two bed room with a shared bathroom and electricity only until the generator was turned off. The daily outings are to things as standard as religious establishments, to viewing wonderfully pink flamingos against a backdrop of an emerald green lagoon and standing in the school classroom where Che Guevara and his revolutionary mates were shot. When we had originally planned a route similar to the one this tour follows we thought it would be difficult to do on our own. Wild Frontiers provided us with the access to all the places we wanted to stop. We had a great time. If Bolivia is on your radar this is a tour that allow you to visit a large portion of an outstanding country. Rating for tour operator:These folks are easy to deal with and provide what they say they are going to. We used their services twice, once for a private tour of Myanmar and the second time on group tour to Bolivia. Both went off without a hitch. I, without a doubt, can recommend them.
Thanks for your kind comments Murray and we are delighted you had such a successful trip to Bolivia. Best wishes from all at WF.
Karakorum Adventure with Wild Frontiers
The itinerary took us along most of the length of the Karakorum Highway from Kashghar in China to Islamabad in Pakistan, through some of the most spectacular scenery I have ever encountered. There was an adventurous jeep ride to Fairy Meadows, and a short trek to a spot where you can listen to the slow movement of the Raikot glacier. It was unforgettable. The final stage took us to the Golden Temple in Amritsar and a relaxing wind-down staying ...

There was an adventurous jeep ride to Fairy Meadows, and a short trek to a spot where you can listen to the slow movement of the Raikot glacier. It was unforgettable. The final stage took us to the Golden Temple in Amritsar and a relaxing wind-down staying in a houseboat in Srinagar. The hotels were well chosen and of a good standard and character, and the whole itinerary was put together exceedingly well.
Rating for tour operator:This was my first trip with Wild Frontiers and I was very impressed with the design and delivery of the itinerary. They showed a suitable attitude towards security issues and a good concern with regards ethical tourism. I will almost certainly be looking to travel with them again on other trips.
Thank you for your comments Trevor, we are delighted you enjoyed your trip along the Karakoram so much.

Karakoram Highway
This trip is about trading and communication, from Silk Road to China Pakistan Economic Corridor. You see at least 5 mountain ranges, hike, eat well and see the realities of contested borders and struggles for independence. It felt completely safe and there are memorable images on a daily basis.

Wonderful experience, brilliant guides and excellent company
We visited Iran and had the added bonus of a 45 mi ute talk by Frank Gardiner before our departure. I wa fascinated by the varying scenery as we drove, in a very comfortable bus, down to Shiraz . This really set the scene , and as we jumped straight Ito the cultural delights of Tehran, this helped immensely. I wa fascinated by the varying scenery as we drove, in a very comfortable bus, down to Shiraz . We stopped at the delightful desert town of Yazd where we saw the win catchers which made life in the desert more bearable. And a visit to the museum of water showed us the ingenious Qanats which supplied water to so many people. Finally the garden with their gravity fed fountains were a delightfully cool place to just wander through or have a picnic. The rich cultural history of this country kept us fascinated throughout the entire holiday, and I was particularly fascinated by the Towers if Silence and the Zorroastrian faith, the tomb of Cyrus and the ruins at Persepolis. But most of all, the people were so friendly and helpful, I felt completely safe and everywhere was clean and tidy. no litter!
Rating for tour operator:Wild Frontiers were most helpful, guiding us through the intricacies of getting a visa as wel as sorting out plane seats. No requests was too much for them.
Thanks for your feedback Gillian, it sounds like you had a fantastic trip to Iran! Best wishes from all at WF.
Armenia from horseback
This was a recce trip, riding local Armenian horses through the sparsely populated mountains of North Eastern Armenia, within sight of the borders with Georgia and Azerbaijan, where the mountain meadows support summer grazing for livestock, and the forested valleys provide a limited timber industry. Combined with some sightseeing within the capital Yerevan, this was a lovely way to gain an insight into an ancient country that is still emerging ...

Combined with some sightseeing within the capital Yerevan, this was a lovely way to gain an insight into an ancient country that is still emerging from the communist era.
Rating for tour operator:Wild Frontiers provides adventure travel to many of the lesser visited countries of the world and is a company I now use regularly to satisfy my wanderlust. Their group tours are fully escorted and ideal for single travelers as you are guaranteed the company of a small group of like-minded people, and virtually everything other than alcoholic drinks is included, so NO nasty unexpected expenses, - if its on the itinerary its covered.
Thanks for your feedback Sarah, we are delighted you enjoyed your riding holiday in Armenia so much. Best wishes from all at WF.
A wonderful experience - efficiently organised
The Silk Road trip covered the gamut of Central Asia from the terrifying heights of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan to the Electronic age of Kashgar (silent Vespas!) coupled with its adherence to a non Han Chinese way of life. The architectural glories of the great Silk road cities of SAmarkand, Bukhara and Khiva; the broad avenues and Russian influence of the Kyrgysz, Tajik and Uzbek capitals and the un Russian nature of their hinterland.
