A relaxing, most enjoyable and stimulating experience

I participated in the Cruising to Ephesus trip June 6-13, 2015 with my friend Jane Pfau. I wasn't sure what to expect as I had never taken a boat trip along the coast of Turkey. Upon arrival at the boat in the Bodrum harbor, I was very impressed with the gulet. Our cabin was well appointed and large enough for us to be quite comfortable. Upon arrival at the boat in the Bodrum harbor, I was very impressed with the gulet. Our cabin was well appointed and large enough for us to be quite comfortable. The gulet is beautiful and impeccably clean. The public areas are spacious and there are many places to sit or lie and relax sunbathing or reading a book. The dining table was impressive at first site and the food served was beautifully presented and delicious. The staff of our gulet was superb in every way. I ordered tea with lemon the first morning and from then on whenever I appeared in the morning there was tea with lemon brought to me immediately without my saying a word. Our guide Olivier was extremely knowledgeable and enthusiastic about imparting information to the guests. There was no question that he was l. not able to answer and 2. not delighted to answer. Everyone on our boat was full of fun and easy to be with. We bonded from the first day and were sad to say goodbye at the end. This was a memorable experience. Paget Higgins

Gem was great. He paid attention to every detail and described in detail everything we needed and/or wanted to know. There was nothing that was too much trouble for him.

Relaxing, informative and delicious

We went on an archaeological tour of part of Turkey's coastline by boat. Very comfortable accommodation on board, delicious food, a well thought-through itinerary and led by a knowledgeable archaeologist and tour guide.

Every aspect of the holiday seemed well planned from the pre-tour reading list to the transfers.

Unique combination of relaxation, beautiful locations, good company and learning

We travelled along the Turkish coast north from Bodrum stopping in at small towns and ancient cities along with expert guides. The boat and crew were terrific - friendly and helpful and the food was wonderful. Exceeded our high expectations.

Brilliant combination of history, water, wine and company

Sailing on a gulet from Bodrum to Ephesus was one of the best holidays I've had. I love swimming but get utterly bored sitting around resort pools. On this journey, adventures on land exploring the historic sites of Turkey's Aegean Coast were book-ended by a swim in the warm Mediterranean plus wonderful food, wine and conversations. I love swimming but get utterly bored sitting around resort pools. On this journey, adventures on land exploring the historic sites of Turkey's Aegean Coast were book-ended by a swim in the warm Mediterranean plus wonderful food, wine and conversations. The quality of the guides and boat staff were superlative and the only problem with the entire experience was that it ended. I'm currently strategising how to have another Peter Sommer tour.

Rating for tour operator:

All my communication with the Peter Sommer tour was by email from Australia and it was all clear, helpful and accurate. They also gave brilliant advice on other aspects of time away. The quality of the guide who introduced us to the history of the area was literally world-class and I have since read a number of his contributions to archaeology and art. The local guide was delightful and information as well.
