Reviews of Catalonia: El Priorat
Priorat -a walking holiday along old monastery trails
The holiday was an independent walking holiday. All the arrangements were well organised and the route notes very detailed so that we could go at our own pace. We stayed in small hotels in mountain villages and small towns It was active but relaxing and a very enjoyable holiday.

Rating for tour operator:A efficient yet friendly small company who take a personal interest in every holiday.
Wonderful walking in varied, dramatic scenery, with great accommodation, food and wine.
A six-day walking holiday through the Prades mountains, the Serra de Montsant natural park and the vineyards of Priorat in Catalonia. The walking was at times challenging, but thoroughly rewarding, with ever-changing, dramatic scenery. After completing the walk, we had an extra night at Vilella Baixa and then returned to Barcelona for a two-night stay, enjoying the wonderful atmosphere of this vibrant city. This was made more enjoyable by the fact that it was fiesta time in Barcelona, with everyone enjoying parades, processions and firework displays.
Rating for tour operator:This is the third time we have travelled with On Foot Holidays and we cannot praise them enough. Their organisation and customer service are second-to-none, and they never fail to deliver exactly what they promise. Every aspect of the trip from our initial enquiries about the walk to the booking arrangements, provision of route information and response to feedback was dealt with quickly and efficiently. During the trip, we met another couple who have now been on twelve trips with On Foot Holidays - we have no hesitation in aiming to equal this!
Wonderful inn-to-inn walk in Spanish Priorat wine country
We spent six days walking from village to village using On Foot's meticulously detailed route notes and thoroughly enjoyed the terrain, the physical challenge, the scenery, and the hospitality of the Catalonian innkeepers On Foot arranged as part of this holiday. Rating for tour operator:This second holiday with On Foot confirmed our opinion of the company as exceptionally reliable and attentive to detail. The staff are very knowledgeable responsive to special requests, and having local support on the ground during the walk is a reassuring bonus. On Foot is better than any other similar companies we have travelled with, and we recommend them unreservedly.
A memorable and very beautiful journey through a hidden landscape
A walking trip through woods and mountains in the Priorat region of Spain, with visits to fascinating monasteries and stays in sleepy towns and villages. Fabulous wines and great walking, with interesting places to stay, and stunning landscape. Strenuous walking, but a hugely enjoyable experience.

Rating for tour operator:Very friendly and efficient to deal with, this felt like an organisation with a real interest in its customers. Really excellent maps and walking directions, and a good level of information about the area.
fantastic
Planned holiday walking from Ljubljana to Trieste. The walking schedule was excellent and wonderful/interesting scenery and good hotels. There was flexibilty with length of stay with the hotels in Trieste and Ljubjana. The accompanying paperwork was very good regarding maps and information about the areas through which we were travelling. All the luggage transfers went without a hitch. Rating for tour operator:The On Foot Holidays website is excellent and whenever we have contacted On Foot Holidays staff have responded in a timely way, have been knowledgable and have always been very friendly and enthusiastic. This was our second holiday with the company and we are planning another one in 2014.
Far From the Madding Crowd
WE loved the feeling of adventuring - we felt as though we were poineering the trail but of course we were fully supported by excellent notes and maps, with the knowledge that we could phone the local agent, if necessary (We did- we had trouble with our phone and she was marvellous! Also, she phoned to make sure we had arrived at our destination on a partcularly stormy afternoon - fantastic!) The walking was sufficiently challenging and the ...

The walking was sufficiently challenging and the tiny towns were interesing experiences. The accomodation had been handpicked with friendly hosts. Fantastic.
Rating for tour operator:From our first enquiry we found Debbie and Simon to be extremely helpful and informative. They assisted with our travel plans and were willing to customise the walk in way to suit us. It was great to talk to them on the phone (we are in New Zealand) and hear that they had actually done the walk themselves. Their enthusiasm was inspiring. All the contact was professional and timely.
Excellent walking tour organisation
I have now done 7 walking holidays with On Foot. Their attention to detail is superb. We always stay in clean and comfortable place. We always eat well. Where there may have been minor disappointments the staff respond immediately and take into account all comments and are unfailingly pleasant to deal with. I heartily recommend the company - I have done so on many occasions and will continue to do so.

Independent walking tour of the Priorat region
The walk took us from the Cisterican monastery of Poblet through the mountains of Prades and into the heart of the Priorat wine region. We stayed in small hotels, guesthouses and a rural Mas (farmhouse) with ecologically minded owners. We loved the region and the variety of scenery on our walk, as well as the genuinely friendly and hospitable locals along the way. The walk was challenging enough to feel worthwhile without being overwhelming or exhausting and there were often options for shortening the day if desired. We enjoyed varied Catalan cuisine along the way.
Rating for tour operator:I had not used On Foot before and from start to finish I was impressed by the level of service. Debbie was very friendly when I rang to discuss the trip with her and she was helpful about arranging a change to the transport at the end. The package of maps, walking notes and information about the region was excellent; I have done similar walks with other companies and these were easily the best. Debbie rang before we left to check we had everything we needed and Joanna, who had written the notes, was available to us locally if needed. Our bags were moved on each day and everything went smoothly. I would certainly recommend this as an excellent holiday.
