We had had the preceeding week in Edinburgh which we love anyway. !! and MK posted us an extra package of info there which was great .MK also booked the hotel we returned to there after our trip . and before we headed for our river boat trip in Europe ( 3 boats!! due to low river levels ) so glad for us and them that we got that rain in the Hebrides .Landing on the beach in Barra in the rain was fun !!!
Rating for tour operator:McKinlay Kidd's choice of hotels , and b and b's and the tour app and all other info were all excellent . from the moment I found them on the internet the year before we went !!! The ferries were great and being not mid season were flexible and we were well advised by our hosts when to take the earlier ones which was great, Hire car delivery was no fuss , in the pouring rain !! and only 5 mins to the hotel on Barra.
A restful and enjoyable week on the Outer Hebrides.
We flew to Barra from Glasgow and had the amazing experience of landing on the Cockle Strand; highly recommended! After two nights in Castlebay we travelled north using local buses and ferries, spending two nights in Lochmaddy and two nights in Stornoway. Using local buses was an excellent choice since it gave us an opportunity to meet the locals and listen to the drivers' stories along the way. The ever changing scenery and remoteness of the ...

Rating for tour operator:A small but efficient and friendly company, which offers a truly personal service. We have used them twice now and have always felt in safe hands. They take our sometimes quirky requests in their stride.
Wonderful Introduction to the Outer Hebrides
After landing on the beach at Barra we spent 10 days exploring the islands by car ending in Stornoway on Lewis. On idea location if you are interested in wildlife and big scenery and seascapes. The locals were very friendly and helpful and some of the restaurants were worldclass.

Lost in the breathtaking remoteness
We spent 15 days living out a trip of a lifetime in some of the most remote , interesting and breathtaking islands of Scotland .Where none of our friends or relatives had even heard of just the sort of holiday we love and enjoy .Off the grid .

Rating for tour operator:From our first contact to our arrival in the Outer Hebrides ,they were terrific .Everything they said they would organize was, everything ran to plan and there were unexpected extras that outstanding. Our Australian tour operators would learn a great deal from this organization.
A wonderful experience touring the Outer Hebrides
A week of Hebridean discoveries with varied landscapes, beautiful beaches and views combined with friendly local people. Travelling in May, we enjoyed amazing sunny weather for the entire week with no midges at all! Fantastic!

Outer Hebridean Fly Drive Holiday organised by McKinlay Kidd
Outer Hebridean Holiday. I flew Glasgow to the Isle of Barra, plane landing on the beach. Spectacular! Two days on Barra, driving to various areas and walking some of the recommended tracks. Car ferry to South Uist then took my time to drive north through Benbecula to North Uist. Lovely accommodation in Lochmaddy (Hamersay Hotel x two nights). Car ferry to South Uist then took my time to drive north through Benbecula to North Uist. Lovely accommodation in Lochmaddy (Hamersay Hotel x two nights). Did lots of walking on recommended tracks, very helpful information gained at the Visit Scotland office in Lochmaddy. Car ferry to Harris then drove north the Lewis, B&B in Stornoway. Two days exploring Lewis by car and local bus. The local bus drivers were fabulous, helpful and informative and welcoming. Only regret is for not having allowed more time to explore Harris. Holiday concluded with flight back to Glasgow from Stornoway. I would certainly visit the Outer Hebrides again and again if it wasn't so far from Australia!
Rating for tour operator:McKinlay Kidd were terrific and I would highly recommend them for anyone looking to explore Scotland. I initially contacted them via their website and their responses to each of my enquiries were prompt and clearly detailed. My booking was easily processed and close to my tour dates I received the Itinerary, including tickets and thorough details of accommodation, flights, car hire and some helpful information about the various islands. Again to say I would highly recommend McKinlay Kidd.
An inspiring and enjoyable spiritual retreat
I visited the Isles of Lewis and Harris to find out more about the powerful Christian Revival which took place in 1949-52 and to meets some people who had experienced it.
