Fabulous

Everything I feared - traffic, missing the ferry, being alone - didn't happen! Almost everything I hoped to see - I saw with the help of a brilliant network of locals set up by McKinlay Kidd. The hotel was excellent and I met the most diverse and wonderful fellow travellers.

Rating for tour operator:

I found McKinlay Kidd purely by chance as I googled for a wildlife holiday. This particular 'package' suited me exactly and they were so helpful about my worries. Carol even rang me to warn me of the route of a cycle race, giving me an alternative route! I happen to think the alternative was the best part of my journey, so I took it on the return too! It was just so smooth and well organised for my all too short holiday.

McKinlay Kidd furnished us with a great deal of information about our destinations and advice about what to see and do. We were extremely pleased with the high quality of the experiences, excursions, lodgings and their handling of the logistics. We felt we were being introduced to some of the best experiences Scotland offers (though I think that wonderful country's offerings are inexaustible).

Rating for tour operator:

McKinlay Kidd's arrangements were meticulous and everything went very smoothly. They were responsive to our questions and concerns both while we were planning our trip and during our travels. The focus seemed to be on genuinely local and authentic experiences and providers, not mass-produced typical tourist stuff. The people we talked to who operate the excursions and lodgings seemed to have high regard for McKinlay Kidd (one commented 'they treat me really well') and being under their umbrella, so to speak, seemed to smooth our path in a number of ways. We felt well looked after. We will not hesitate to consult them again on future holidays.

Wonderful Scottish North Coast 500

We travelled up the west coast of Scotland - fabulous views of caost and mountains with wonderful if scary at times drives over passses along single trsck roads. Then along the North Coast - unfortinately in fog but this too would have offered amazing views! Down the east coast with spectacular sea views. Great hotels/B&bs on the way. Lots of off the route places to visit. In every way an awesome experience.

Booking was easy and straightforward. Personal service from beginning to end and always ready to help and to listen to what we needed and to our suggestions for improvements for the future. Good information given for the journey and recommendations too. Great choice of hotels/B&Bs - each one different in its own way. Have booked with them before and will again.

I spent 5 wonderful days on Lewis and Harris, including an amazing day trip to St Kilda. Sea Harris, who ran the trip to St Kilda trip, were also excellent and full of interesting information. The tea and lovely ginger cake on board just before we made the return trip was very much appreciated. Although the weather was a bit mixed, it didn't detract from the holiday, in fact, in some instances it added to the atmosphere! You just have to be a bit flexible over what you do and when and great experiences are there to be had. I would thoroughly recommend this holiday to anyone.
