Walking to Santiago by Vercs, 30 Sep 2017

Walking to Santiago

Walking to Santiago was an ambition I have had for some time. The MRT tour was well planned and not too taxing. THe route is well marked and many of the lesser parts of the Camino way were bypassed. The lecturer held our attention; she was extremely well informed and was able to pitch her presentation to the group. More detailed questions were answered with aplomb.

Tour of works by Frank Lloyd Wright

It was well run, full of information, we stayed at good quality hotels, had an excellent lecturer and saw some great works and visited many private homes to see this architect's famous works.

I have travelled many times with MRT and rate them very highly. The expert lecturer and the tour administrator were with us on all of the formal trips. We also had spare time to do our own visits and walks.

Despite complicated planning, everything went extremely smoothly

I went on a trip to Germany following the footsteps of JS Bach, and hearing some of his most sublime music. 2 days later I was in Uzbekistan following the legendary Silk Road. Both tours were organized by Martin Randall and were quite inspirational, aided by erudite lecturers and most efficient tour organizers. I certainly wish to do more tours with Martin Randall

A wonderfully planned insight into Bach's life and music

We went on MRT's Bach Journey ME 520 and could not fault the experience. The concert venues, the performers and the towns visited gave us an excellent understanding of how and where Bach lived and worked.

Journey with Bach

We followed the footsteps of Johann Sebastian Bach through the towns of Thuringia where he lived and worked, accompanied by his music. We followed the footsteps of Johann Sebastian Bach through the towns of Thuringia where he lived and worked, accompanied by his music. The itinerary was out of the ordinary, with Weimar and its cultural past a true gem, and Eisenach and its connections with Luther a revelation, on the 500th anniversary of the Reformation. We heard performances of Bach's major works, including the two Passions, the B Minor Mass and the Goldberg Variations, plus a selection of choral, orchestral, organ and solo violin music at venues known to Bach, with an authoritative but light and humorous commentary by an expert lecturer. A mix of top-flight European and UK performers provided an illuminating contrast of style. The enjoyment of the music and history was made congenial by comfortable hotels, excellent meals, especially breakfasts, and impeccable transport arrangements. DIscreet and friendly tour managers and guides kept us together and moving smoothly throughout a most enjoyable six days.

Connoisseur's Prague by Frieda, 20 Sep 2017

Connoisseur's Prague

As the brochure states, this was an 'experience of Prague like no other'. Not only did we see the well-known sights, but we also went behind the scenes of some beautiful and interesting buildings with our excellent guides. I learnt a lot about Czech history and culture that I did not know before, and enjoyed the luxury of staying at the wonderful Hotel Pariz. Everything was seamlessly planned and we had a little free time to explore, too.
