Georgia, a Cultural Walking tour, encompasses many facets of this ancient Christian country, set in the Greater Caucasus - mountain walks, ancient stone towers, vineyards below snowy peaks, remote monasteries , Silk Road caravanserais and the Legend of the Golden Fleece. Running in September 2025, this guided holiday has a maximum of 14 guests.
Walking in Romania - the Painted Monasteries, Transylvania & the Danube delta - offers an in-depth exploration of 'old' Romania, with excellent walking in unspoilt landscapes of Transylvania, Moldavia and Bucovina and a boat-based excursion in the Danube Delta. Running 3 - 14 June 2025 (max 14 guests), when wildflowers are at their best.
On St. Vincent we discover the historic Botanical Gardens, endemic parrots and colonial architecture. Staying at luxury beachfront suites on Bequia, we walk on country lanes through fishing villages, explore a historic plantation and a model boat workshop, have opportunities to swim and snorkel and take sailing trips to Mustique & the Tobago Cays.
Our walking tour in Kyrgyzstan offers mountain valleys, full of flowers, rivers carving pathways through the unique terrain as snow-capped peaks reveal themselves on our gentle climbs, the world’s second largest mountain lake, Issy-Kul, petroglyphs, ancient forts and a historic caravanserai, plus the Soviet era architecture of the capital, Bishkek.
In the Cévennes, the ‘transhumance’, the seasonal migration of sheep up to the cool mountain pastures, is still practiced on foot. During our exploration of the region, we will visit one of these shepherds in the heart of the mountains, and have a rare insight into this traditional way of life.
