Armenia's Trekking Highlights by Pegasus, 13 Aug 2018
Holiday Rating:

Excellent mixture of culture and trekking.

Armenia: 11 days combining a selection of Armenia's fascinating monasteries, and trekking in remote countryside. Accommodation in hotels and camping. Exceptionally informative Armenian guide, probably the best guide I have had on any trip.

ACTION-PACKED ADVENTURE IN AN INTIMATE FAMILY SETTING

My kids and I loved this holiday. The range of activities was perfect and the location stunning. My children particularly enjoyed the cycling, the climbing and learning to bodyboard for the first time was a great bonus. It was the perfect balance to be busy most mornings with time on the beach in the afternoons. The Algarve coast is ruggedly spectacular and the verdant valley where the farm is located is serene and beautiful. Jon and Violetta ...

The Algarve coast is ruggedly spectacular and the verdant valley where the farm is located is serene and beautiful. Jon and Violetta were excellent hosts. Jon is very knowledgeable and capable at leading a range of activities, while Violetta cooks fantastic food and made everyone feel right at home. We got on very well with the other families and making new friends was a particular highlight for my children. I highly recommend this trip for families who want a balance of activities and beach time in a small group setting.

KE were very organised and kept me informed prior to travel. The holiday was exactly what I expected. The local tour leader Jon was brilliant - capable and welcoming.

The guides on the trek were professional and outstanding in terms of their mountaineering experience, you really felt in good hands and were looked after like kings. Indeed, the team who accompany you on the trek ensure your needs are attended to at every turn, what a cheerful, industrious group of individuals, all contributing to a comfortable and inspiring experience.

Rating for tour operator:

The reception at the beginning of the trip could have been better, with more information on India and the trip itself. More information on India, health and the environmental impact of tourism would have been appreciated. However, the welcome from staff once in Leh was beyond reproach. What a team! Kind, friendly, helpful people (our team leader was a real beacon of industriousness and efficiency) we were in such good hands. Employing only locals is a major boon, and properly qualified locals at that. KE have clearly built strong local contacts and sought out some of the best qualified people the region has to offer, staff who care and love their home place and want to share it.

The trek offered an amazing summer alpine experience, while walking through spectacular flower meadows, crossing beautiful clear rivers and streams, climbing amazing rocky peaks and traversing spectacular glaciers. It was a fantastic challenge and introduction to mountaineering at moderately high altitudes. The small group and enormously experienced guide really enabled me to enjoy the experience. The superb weather helped a bit as well!

The staff at KE Adventures were fantastic at providing information, as required, and very helpful on the phone. The itinerary was very well planned and the organisation of the trip was excellent. It all flowed very smoothly.

This is a real adventure, with multiple flights and exciting off-road jeep journeys before you even start walking. If you are lucky, the awesome illumination of K2 and the other 8000m peaks by the rising sun as you cross the 5500m Gondogoro La pass will be a cherished moment that will engrave itself indelibly into your memory.

KE Adventure, and their superb ground agents (Baltistan tours) will look after your admirably. The team of porters and cooks are nothing short of supermen, and will keep you well fed and safe, even when things are getting tough. Booking with KE is straightforward, but not impersonal. They have an excellent range of adventurous holidays to choose from. You could spend an enjoyable lifetime working through their brochure.

His English was fluent, had a very positive and encouraging character, created a very happy humoristic and good attitude between group members. Elias knowledge of Inca history and archeology was exceptional good and very interesting. Elias presented also his interesting and convincing thoughts about the INCA, knew also names of the plantation, flowers and their use for local medicine. Elias was careful to the individual pace of trip members, and during the treks he accompanied the slower ones as well those in the front. Elias took care of all our needs and to members safety was important to him. Elias created good mood atmosphere which was very important encouraging during high efforts climbing at high altitude of up to 4700 m. Additional to the guide Elias we had Ricardo as assistant guide, 5 horse man, waiter, Cheff and assistant cook as also dish man washer Felix who was in charge to have our plates and cooking ware clean and ready for the meals. The Cheff cook Lorenzo and Francisco cooked very tasty and delicious food: Excellent soups, main dish and deserts. The food was always fresh, clean and put on the plate in an artistic manner like in the best restaurants. Lorenzo and Francisco even baked a wonderful birthday cake as surprise to one of our group members that had birthday. Basilio the waiter ran for every of our wishes during the meals, always withe smile on his face, also waking us up in the cold mornings with a glass of worm tee "MATE DE COCA". The horse men were very efficient in preparing and folding our tents, always ready when we arrived to camping place, also carrying our DAFO bags with our personal belongings. I recommend to KE this excellent guide Elias and his outstanding stuff from Lima Tours (PERU) for all of your trips. They are very reliable and can be trusted to succeed in carrying out a fabulous trip. Was excellent very interesting and enjoyable trek. Recommended.

Adventure into the Unknown - Pakistan

The plan was to trek to Concordia/K2 basecamp/Gondogoro La. Myriads of birds, whales, seals, reindeer, arctic fox were observed in the company of a very friendly international group, all interested in the environment. Trips ashore included Trondheim and Tromso but the best were to wilder spots in zodiacs. The two weeks felt like four , so much was organised by a most knowledgeable and competent team, headed by Jonathan Green (see Blue Planet 2). Fine dining and superb service complete the picture of this outstanding cruise.
