Perfect. Even the snow didn't detract!

We were well looked after, tours were carefully planned, because of the bad weather there had to be last minute changes and these had been planned for. In the end everything ran smoothly. Hotel was good, great meals, excellent transport provided.

Jordan History Adventure

We were lead by a leading academic, assisted by a local guide, through a visual history of the country from the extreme North right to the extreme South. We had lectures whilst on the bus and, although the pace was quite intense, we were allowed enough down time to avoid exhaustion. our meals were well organised and we had no problems with the authorities as we also had our own policeman.

Small travel company based in Northants operating throughout the UK and Europe, near East and Iran as well as the Western Hemisphere with special art and art history emphasis. they have a fairly select clientele who tend to use them regularly.

Such good company, fabulous private visits with erudite guides not found elsewhere. All comforts

Hotel was well situated and very comfortable. We were privileged to visit the Sistine Chapel privately, also the Palazzo Colonna, French Embassy, part of the Brazilian Embassy. It would be difficult to find better Art Historians. Good transport and great preparation had been taken

Very interesting first visit to Berlin and Potsdam, beautifully organised, full of facts, lovely hotel with excellent food and wine

Ciceroni had assembled a lovely group of people for this 6 day 5 night visit to Berlin and Potsdam. Ciceroni had assembled a lovely group of people for this 6 day 5 night visit to Berlin and Potsdam. As one comes to expect from the company the arrangements were faultless and the schedules were well paced to allow further individual visits to places of interest as well as attending concerts and the opera in the evenings. The local guide helped to bring alive the past and present history of both places with an absolute wealth of knowledge willingly shared. The hotel we stayed in was perfect, the excellent food both within the hotel and restaurants outside was accompanied by highly appropriate local wines - in fact one of the meals was perhaps the best we have ever had through many years of visits across Europe.

Rating for tour operator:

Ciceroni's organisation of these visits is really faultless. The research carried out prior to the visit is extremely thorough and dealing with them is always a pleasure as nothing is too much trouble - very friendly and highly efficient. The audio guide system they have used for many years allows freedom of movement without missing a single word of the commentator. it is not necessary to crowd round whether inside or out - highly impressive.

All arrangements were excellent. Our hotel was right in the centre of town and very comfortable. All the visits were interesting, several places exceptionally so.

A real “Connoisseurs’” visit to Rome, visiting almost exclusively places not either open to the general public or with very limited access. These places included private palaces with amazing art collections, off the beaten track churches , and a private visit after hours to the Vatican Museum and Sistine Chapel - an incomparable experience. With so much art to admire, we were so lucky to have two expert guides, Tom Duncan and James Hill, who not only have an unparrelled knowledge of their subject, but who are both also highly entertaining. This was a “degree level” tour, not for the faint hearted, but also interspersed with the required number of coffee and lunch breaks to gather our thoughts and give the eyes and mind a rest! The hotel we stayed in was run by delightful and helpful staff, and was in an excellent location overlooking the Pantheon, from where I, at least, was able to walk to all my favourite areas of Rome. Because of this location in the heart of Rome ( with all the narrow streets), we were either able to walk everywhere or were transported in very comfortable Mercedes minibuses. A highly recommended tour for people who already know Rome and love art and architecture.

Rating for tour operator:

A small, specialed operator, doing only one tour per year to each destination, who therefore are able to have the best art historians on each tour. The tours are very well organised with a small number of participants, and they are all very well looked after. I have been on three of Ciceroni’s tours in the past 10 months, and can testify to their professionalism and excellent travel arrangements. James Hill is like a walking encyclopaedia- he can answer ANY question on ANY subject! But he is also so charming and very funny.
