From peak to peak : on foot and by bus in the Peak District
Our holiday began at the southern tip of the Peak District and took us across dales, over high moors and along quiet grassy paths as well as well-trafficked, paved and sometimes eroded ridges. We spent a week following a route which had been planned for us, but we made various adjustments and took three different buses to shorten the full distance to walk.
We stayed at a b & b, two hotels and an inn aptly named the Rambler Inn at Edale.

Rating for tour operator:
Once you have chosen your holiday from a range of British and continental options, On Foot Holidays provide an itinerary and detailed route-finding in a pack. In our case they included the two Ordnance Survey Outdoor Leisure maps of the Peak District. They also include public transport details relating to the start and finish of our holiday - Matlock and Edale in our case plus bus times for optional travel within the area. They also provide the phone number of a local person who can be
contacted .in case of an emergency. Last but not least, they provide a luggage service to your onward destination so that you only have to carry a day-pack.
