Cumbria Way Walking Holiday

We thoroughly enjoyed our Cumbria Way walking holiday arranged by Mickledore. We chose to do the whole 72 miles, with 8 days walking/9 nights, and we added 2 rest days - Coniston and Keswick. We did the full package - accommodations, map and guidebook, packed lunches, and luggage transport. We did purchase the e-book version of our guidebook so we could read it from our phones.

Mickledore made it very easy for us (2 couples) to just walk and enjoy the beautiful Lakes District. Our accommodations were nice and comfortable with friendly helpful hosts who also made our lunches. The holiday pack gave us lots of information for dinners. This was our second walking holiday with Mickledore (the first was the Westmorland Way 3 years ago) and we are already talking about which one to do next.

Well organised, good value, successful trip

My wife and I walked the Cumbria Way from Ulverston to Carlisle last week. It was a 90 mile long distance walk over 8 days in glorious countryside and it was hard but very rewarding.

Mickledore were great from start to finish from their website to their organisation of our trip, from the places they booked us for overnight stays to the taxi pickups and finally the feedback email. I would not hesitate to use them again.

The booking was all handled very well and the accommodation we stayed in was good to excellent. There were plenty of choices for meals out along the route and on the one occasion there wasnt the company pre booked us into a restaurant in advance. The route was reasonably wellmarked but the company provided a detailed booklet and OS map of the walk which was through spectacular scenery. The walk was challenging in one or two places but overall anyone of reasonable fitness could complete it in 7 days. We would certainly recommend the walk to anyone considering a first visit to The Lakes

Rating for tour operator:

We have used Mickledore for our walking holidays for over ten years and completed seven planned walks.Their organisation and attention to detail is excellent. They personally checkout each route and the accommodation they recommend and book. Their customer follow up surveys maintain a high standard throughout their packages.Their walks are graded at various levels and over a choice of days depending on experience and fitness levels.Information, maps and accommodation details are provided well in advance so they can be checked out but we have always found their choices to be good. They also listen and ACT on customer feedback, which is refreshing We'd certainly recommend Mickledore to anyone considering a walking holiday throughout the UK

Blissful blister free me time

A well organised a perfect 3 day trek based on the Cumbria Way. 5 out of 5 for the choice of B&B accommodation. The Sherpa service to transfer luggage was well organised, and the route notes for the daily walks well selected. I was walking solo, so reassuring to know someone new where I should be, and there if I needed some support.

Exhilarating walking in the beautiful lake district

Our walk took us across a variety of countryside from rolling hills and across farmland, alongside the beautiful lakes and through the dramatic peaks. We stayed in some lovely bed and breakfasts on route and enjoyed a welcome at each place we visited.

Rating for tour operator:

Mickeldore provided an excellent service. Our initial booking was well managed and we were provided with helpful advice and support. The resources to help us through our walk were comprehensive, particularly the route book which gave us various options. The accommodation which had been chosen for us was welcoming and the way in which our luggage was transported was very efficient. Mickeldore is certainly a company we would use again.
