This classic fly-in safari explores two remote and contrasting parks in southern Tanzania – the wildlife-rich Nyerere National Park (formerly Selous Game Reserve), and the more rugged, mountainous Ruaha National Park. Staying in two superb tented camps – Siwandu and Jongomero – you’ll enjoy game drives, walking safaris and boat trips, all with expert guiding and excellent service.
Days 1–4
4 nights Siwandu – Nyerere National Park (Selous), Tanzania
From Dar es Salaam’s domestic terminal, you’ll take a short flight to Siwandu’s private airstrip in Nyerere National Park. A guide will meet you and take you on a short game drive to the camp, set in a palm grove on the shores of Lake Nzerakera.
Siwandu is a luxurious tented camp with spacious thatched suites, offering both comfort and immersion in the wild. Enjoy game drives in open vehicles, guided walks, and boat safaris on the lake and river systems – a perfect introduction to Tanzania’s southern circuit.
Days 5–8
4 nights Jongomero – Ruaha National Park, Tanzania
After your final morning activity at Siwandu, you'll fly west to the more arid, rugged terrain of Ruaha. On arrival at the Jongomero airstrip, you’ll be welcomed and transferred to camp, tucked under the shade of giant trees along the seasonal Jongomero River.
Jongomero is an exclusive, stylish tented camp offering a true wilderness experience in one of Tanzania’s least-visited parks. Spend your days exploring by 4WD or on foot with experienced guides, with time to relax between activities in camp’s peaceful surroundings.
Day 9
After a final morning safari and breakfast, you’ll fly back to Dar es Salaam where your itinerary ends. Alternatively, you might like to extend your holiday with time on the Indian Ocean coast or Zanzibar.
