This 18 day holiday covers the northern portion of Sri Lanka in detail, taking in wildlife, culture and beaches. It is the perfect trip for those who have perhaps visited the island before, or for those with an adventurous streak who want to explore something many others don't even know about.
Highlights include:
Exploring Jaffna's peninsula, town and islands
Seeking out wildlife in Wilpattu National Park
Immerse yourself in local life on the west coast peninsular of Mannar
After a night near Colombo airport, head up to the rural idyll of Anamaduwa for 2 nights, exploring the local sights. Head north, visiting Wilpattu National Park and the unique peninsular of Mannar for a homestay project before landing in Jaffna, Sri Lanka's most northern town. After a few days exploring all the rich culture and history the area has to offer, head down the east coast to Trincomalee for 3 nights, with an optional stop at the civil war sites en route. From here, explore the Dutch Fort, snorkel off Pigeon Island or simply relax on the beach! Heading back towards the West coast, take in the sites of the Cultural Triangle, before ending up at a stunning colonial coconut plantation for your final night.
The best months for travel would be between February and September.
