A wonderful walk - strenuous without being exhausting, beautiful views, great accomodation and wonderful people. Everything went seamlessly and got a real sense of this fascinating country

Nepal trek

I spent time in Kathmandu and treking in the Annapurna region of Nepal. The trip was a repeat of a similar trip I had made 30 years earlier. The trek was guided and we stayed at luxury lodges.

The Mountain Company and Roland Hunter its leader were outstanding. Roland was generous with his time as we planned the trip and offered excellent advice. He was always accessible as I planned. On the ground Roland and team provided fantastic support. The trip was delivered as advertised with no negative surprises and the overall experience exceeded my expectations.

From first thing in the morning when we had our early morning coffees, until last thing at night when we met up with other trekkers and enjoyed happy hour, great food and company, we loved it. Everyone was extremely friendly and the lodges and staff were excellent Our guide and porter were so helpful giving us confidence and supporting us the whole time. They were full of information about the Himalayas and local culture and we enjoyed many laughs daily. Fully recommend the trip.

We investigated many options prior to booking. Roland Hunter and his team at The Mountain Company offered us the best options for our adventure. The company were excellent throughout, giving us full and detailed pre trip information and answered every question we had very promptly. Once we arrived in Kathmandu we were met by Jo who works directly for TMC and she set us up brilliantly for the trip. She also organised our day tours in both Kathmandu and Pokhara which are well worth doing. I would fully recommend the Mountain Company.

Annapurna trek

We trekked for 6 days/5 nights with The Mountain Company staying at Ker & Downey properties. It was magnificent. Notably it was our second time doing the trek with same company. They were terrific first time around too.

Fabulous Walking in the Annapurna Foothills

We had a 6 day guided trek in the Modi Khola valley, visiting many delightful Nepalese villages, and seeing splendid mountain scenery from every lodge. Each day was around 5-6 hours at a leisurely pace with lots of opportunity to stop and take in the surroundings. Our guide, who is from the valley, was outstanding and made sure we got to see as much as possible of village life. We also spent a couple of days at either end in Kathmandu and Pokhara, ...

Our guide, who is from the valley, was outstanding and made sure we got to see as much as possible of village life. We also spent a couple of days at either end in Kathmandu and Pokhara, but for us there was no question it was the trek that made the holiday.

Rating for tour operator:

We booked through The Mountain Company who maintained excellent communications throughout - very quick to provide answers to the many questions we raised before we travelled, and also there to meet us in Kathmandu for a pre-trek chat and a post-trek debrief. We did have one or two minor glitches with the airport transfers but these were resolved quickly.

A fascinating holiday in Nepal and Bhutan

I did a beautiful trek in the Annapurna foothills using the wonderful comfort lodges with ensuite showers. Afterwards flew onto Bhutan with highlights walking up to Tiger's Nest monastery and the black necked cranes in Gangtey.
