Travel Editions Silver Jubilee
Travel Editions was set up 25 years ago with the clear intention of offering a range of cultural short breaks and extended tours which would appeal to 'travellers' not 'tourists' and whose itineraries were not readily available on the high street – the legion of loyal customers who travel with us year after year shows that this philosophy is succeeding!
Ed Coventry – Managing Director says;
“Little did we know when John Dryden and I set up Travel Editions in Spring 1994 that 25 years later we would be writing a press release to be shared on social media and by email to the press celebrating our silver anniversary. For a start, there was no email and no social media! Which just goes to show how the travel industry has been revolutionised by technology over the past quarter of a century. We have been quick to embrace its benefits but not at the expense of our core value of personal service as the cornerstone of everything that we do. Our range of tours may have changed and developed over the years, but our key philosophy of providing the benefits of group travel but treating everyone as an individual remains the same. Here’s to the next 25 years!”
What Travel Editions offers -
As the years have passed, our range of tours has developed and diversified. More than 20 years ago we launched a rail holiday to Provence travelling by Eurostar and TGV to Avignon – today this is one of nearly 30 tours that use this mode of transport – the journey becomes part of the holiday and is one of the most environmentally friendly ways to travel.
As more and more travellers are looking for a more active type of holiday, Travel Editions has continued to develop its range of Special Interest Tours our selection brings together the increasing number of tours that have very specific appeal for food lovers, flower enthusiasts and walkers.
Our range of tours by air are an eclectic mix, ranging from Norway in the North to Greece and Crete in the southern Mediterranean. Whatever the destination, the holidays are packed full of cultural and historic treasures, but also include free time for you to relax and soak up the local atmosphere and, of course, the regional food and wine!
We also offer a large range of special events in the UK with expert speakers, concerts, special dinners in historic locations such as the SS Great Britain and many other unique events that bring the culture and history of our wonderful country to life. This has been expanded to adopt the same principles on short educational trips abroad which is found in our Art & History Abroad programme.
Tailor Made Group Travel; In 1996 two years after Travel Editions was founded, we arranged our first ever private group tour, a city break to Venice. In those early days we just handled a few private groups but recognised the potential for working with this market and we now work with numerous groups in the UK and overseas creating tours to suit the groups specifications, budget and interests - no subject too small, no country too far!
