Tailor-made Malawi Holiday Overview
There are many holiday options in Malawi - from a relaxing beach stay to hiking to interesting safaris in contrasting environments. Here you will find a typical Malawi trip idea. However, all of our holidays are tailor-made, for more information please refer to our website.Red Zebra Cichlid Safari
This safari holiday to Malawi takes its time to explore two of the country’s highlights. It first visits the rugged, remote Majete Wildlife Reserve for a 3-night safari, then it continues to a lovely beach lodge within Lake Malawi National Park. Both of these are top-notch lodges with high standards of accommodation, food and service.
Days 1-3
3 nights at Mkulumadzi Lodge (full board & activities) | Majete Wildlife Reserve, Malawi
From Blantyre Airport you will be met and transferred by road to the Majete Wilderness Reserve located in southern Malawi. Here you spend 4 nights at Mkulumadzi. It’s a smart camp with eight chalets and has views out over the Shire River below. You’ll head out to explore Majete with Mkulumadzi’s experienced wildlife guides, and the more common game species here include nyala, bushbuck, zebra, kudu, waterbuck, eland, warthog and impala. Elephant and buffalo are often sighted, whilst leopard, lion and black rhino are much more elusive.Days 4-7
4 nights at Pumulani (full board) | Shore of Lake Malawi, Malawi
After your last breakfast at Mkulumadi, you will hop into a 4WD for the journey to Lake Malawi National Park, on the southern shore of Lake Malawi. This will take about four hours, depending on road conditions and if you stop. You’ll usually pass back through the pretty old city of Blantyre, as well as many smaller towns and villages. Between these, most of the land is farmed, and the scenes you pass will be very typical scenes of rural Africa – always with plenty of people. Your last few miles brings you into the small national park, and to the hilltop location of Pumulani – where you’ll stay for the next four nights.Day 8
Today you will bid goodbye to Pumulani after breakfast, before being driven through the edges of Lilongwe, to Lilongwe Airport. There you will connect onto a South African Airways flight back to Johannesburg, and from there back to London, arriving early the following morning.
