The Northumberland Coast is well known for its striking landscape - sweeping beaches, castles, rocky cliffs, sand dunes and isolated islands. The route is a mainly flat walk . It can be completed by those with limited walking experience.
The Northumberland Coast path is 64 miles / 103km in length and follows the coast in most places, detouring inland between Belford and Holy Island. The path is made up of mainly public rights of way (footpaths and bridleways), but in some places it includes beaches, minor roads, tracks and permissive paths . The route is fairly level with very few climbs. It can be completed by people with limited walking experience.
The walk is full of history with dramatic castles along the route. There is a great variety of wildlife and two National Nature Reserves
You could add a rest day to this holiday to cross the tidal causeway to Holy Island and visit Lindisfarne Castle and Priory.
